The other day, I wrote about how we play the blame game and blame everyone in our lives for the bad things happening to us except accounting for our actions. When you think about it, it’s actually easier to do that than to admit, “oh this is my fault, and I have to work harder to correct this”
After thinking about the whole blame game issue, I realized that some problems would even be non-existent if only people just started taking accountability and working towards it.
I heard a story of this guy who has been blaming his parents for so long. He didn’t grow up in a rich home and also isn’t trying to work in any way. I asked the person who told me the story why he wasn’t working to get money and he said the guy said he has not been getting the type of job he wants.
I found out that he has actually been to the university and that got me shocked. You mean, your parents, although weren’t rich, tried their best to fund your education at the university? And you still are blaming them for what is happening to you? That’s not even sad, it’s funny.
Some years back, I found out that our parents aren’t even obligated to fund our tertiary education. And this means that if your parents actually try their best and send you through school to tertiary, they have actually done you a big solid because it’s mostly supposed to end at basic education. It’s just unfortunate that most people don’t even know this.
You could blame everything and everyone in the world for what is happening to you and the problem is just going to be there. It’s not going to change. But you know when there’s going to be change? When you start taking accountability for your actions and start taking steps to deal with those problems. Except, of course, your aim isn’t to fix them.
