The Hardworking Garden Sunbird

One of the simple joys I experience after moving to the countryside is the chance to see and appreciate animals, including birds. There are a variety of birds we see every day here. I don't have a good camera, so I can't really take decent photos of them. However, an interesting thing happened last week.

This tiny garden sunbird started building a nest on our front door screen. We don't usually open this door because of our furbaby, Arashi. We don't want him to go out of the house, so my parents and I would use the door in the kitchen area.

We already noticed this garden sunbird flying back and forth, bringing tiny twigs and leaves, so we just let it be. We were worried, though, because the screen door isn't really a good base for its next. Even though we try to avoid using this door, its chance of completing the nest here is slim.

The thing we fear happened the next day. The garden sunbird's hard work was gone. The nest fell, and we didn't see it anymore.

Three days later, there was a power outage at our place, so to get some air and relax during the unexpected break, I went out to the garden and enjoyed bird watching.

There were a lot of tiny black and blue birds on the water apple tree. I don't know what kind of birds they are, but there were also some sparrows and Philippine Pied Fantails. It's fun watching them. There was even a group of swallows flying in the sky.

While I was checking out the birds on the water apple tree, I saw this.

It decided to build its nest somewhere else... and I must say, this is a much better choice. It's more secure. I guess I'll be seeing more garden sunbirds in the coming days.

In addition, while my mom and I were manning the store, a cute garden sunbird kept coming back and forth between the store or garage and to the Acacia tree out front.

I believe it's also creating a different nest there because it's collecting some spider webs from the garage's ceiling. hahaha

All in all, I'm happy to see them. I hope to see more of them in the future. That's it for my story about this hardworking garden sunbird. Until next time! (^^,)/
