Hello Hello Hivians.
It's going to be a pretty busy week for me and I have been up since 5am this morning doing bits and pieces online. So let me start the week as I mean to go on, and that is in a fun productive mode!
What a beautiful weekend we have just had.
We had things to do in the gorgeous wee village of Aberdour on the Fife coast.
Did you know that Aber as a prefix means at the mouth of a river, so Aberdour is yes at the mouth of the river Dour.
Aber is actually more Welsh than Scottish, with the Scottish equaivalent being Inver, but there are a few Abers on the east coast of Scotland where we are today.
I shall do more of an indepth post on Aberdour as there is loads to see.
For example that red telephone box or kiosk acts as a bit of an information centre.
We were due to goto Aberdour Castle which I knew where it was, but I did not know where the village hall was.
So I went and asked one of the castle guides who took me to the kiosk to get a map and pointed out the hall on the map!
I had seen online that there was a coffee morning on Saturday from 10am to noon to raise money for the scouts.
As our event at the castle was from noon to 4pm I asked if Mrs T fancied popping into the coffee morning first.
Yes she said!
Well come Saturday morning, someone did not want to get up, so I thought we would not be going!
But Mrs T did get her arse in gear pretty quick and we made it to village hall around 11.30 am.
We paid our £3 each which entitled us to have 2 cakes and unlimited coffee / tea. I chose the chocolate banana bread and two wee marshmallows with smarties on top.
The coffee was served in mugs adorned with St Fillan's Church being that it was their church hall we were. Note this is in Fife and not the village of St Fillans that is in Perthshire!
My mother would call me Lucky Eddie as many good things have happened to me over the years, but I believe we mostly make our own luck, if you don't do something then how can you be lucky etc.
So Mrs T was in a good mood as we made it to the coffee morning and the day was kicking off in glorious style.
I had mentioned there was a tombola where you could win a bottle or some other goodie.
So I was despatched to the tomobola stall, which is at the back of the hall where you see those people standing.
5 tickets for a pound was the price, magic, I will have ten then please.
I was handed 10 of the wee raffle tickets and started top unravel them.
If your number ends in 0 or 5 you might win something the lady told me.
Mrs T was back at the table watching me, and said she could see the tickets being unraveled and then the woman searching for something and seeing her hand me the globe bottle!
Yeah lucky Eddie pulls one out of the bag.
We joked that it was gold leaf in the globe but I presume it is bits of orange peel.
A fun shaped bottle though!
I do like how many places have pictorial representations of the culture and history of a place.
It was a quaint wee church hall and had this pretty pictorial display of Fife on the wall.
And that was our coffee morning, now it was around noon and we hoptailed it across to the Castle to get entertained!
Did you get up to anything exciting in the past few days, or win something perhaps?
At first glance I thought you won perfume😬😛. Looks like.
hehe a big bottle of perfume!
I actually used to live near the confluence of a couple of rivers. It's actually pretty interesting because there are not just one, but two confluences of the same rivers right within a couple of miles of each other.
Oh that is pretty unusual and cool. Are they all natural or have we given a helping hand for that to happen?
Natural as far as I know!

It looks like you had a fun weekend, Lucky Eddie jeje.
Have you tried the content of the Globe Bottle? Or did Matilda keep it all for herself? LOL
I had some fun over the weekend. An afternoon playing cards with the girls but I didn't win anything. 😂
jeje Lucky Eddie has been hiding!
Well the globe bottle was won on Saturday so it is untouched and oh yes out of the reach of Matilda!
Oh you had a girls afternoon, that is cool, so you do play for money Super Eli💙
We rarely bet jeje. And when we do because what we play is more fun betting, we bet very little ;)
And when betting, I'm definitely not Lucky Eli 😂

I like how we make our own luck. And that bottle is hella cute. Well done Lucky Eddie. Now, if you would be so kind to cut me some soap. I need it. I have had a lot of lucky things happen to me. For starters, I turned one year older and I ate burgers and a fancy cake. I also had me a mini-bucket of ice-cream with four different flavours, gummy bears and cashew nuts! Then I had a beer! Very lucky me!
Hehe yes we make lots of our luck, just look at you with that cake and those burgers for example.
Very lucky you having a beer too. Great to see you out and about Deraa :)
I have never tried that gin flavour, it sounds decent enough, will we get a thorough feedback report?
Oh yes a feedback report will be produced, not when though, don't really drink much in the way of spirits at home.
It does sound quite decent right enough!
🤣👍
Thank you Silver Bloggers :)
I like look of that cake or banana bread. I have never eatn it. It reminds me a bit of marble cake. To me it looks llike gold leaf in that bottle. If I drank something with gold pieces in it, I would go to the toilet with a tea strainer.
It was tasty, they actually had written down what each cake was. Oh yes marble cake now that is something I have not eaten for ages. Tasty too!
Yes when the woman gave me the bottle and I saw the flakes, I was thinking gold flakes and some of those german liqueurs.
Haha I would do the same with the tea strainer if it was gold!
Aber... makes me think, isn't it more kelt ?! since here in brittany we have some Aber... same kind of meaning too.
Not heard of Aberdour yet... but i drank some of the Aberlour. :smirk: And look who's talking about being rich, drinking Gold Flaked Gin. Hehehe !
Yes Celt term for sure, do you have any Inver over there?
haha you got colour pencils and I got gold flaked gin bro! That was funny 🤣
No Inver met yet... though we got lots of "Ingwer". :smirk:

You're a lucky boy, Ed!!! They say that believing in good luck, attracts good luck and vice versa. So we must think we have good luck for amazing things to happen to us. This week I was lucky that my friends, like you, were lucky. Fantastic!!! A hug of good fortune for this week.
Oh yes manifest things, attract what you are!
I like that good fortune hug Nancy and it definitely deserves another good fortune hug to you all week.
Great pictures and it sounds like a wonderful weekend! Look forward to reading and seeing more about Aberdour. And thanks for the cool fact about the name of the wee village. Thanks to you I learned something today. YAY!
It is cool when we get to learn things from posts here on Hive. I think people do forget we are from all over the world, so what is normal for one person is not for another.
It was a fun weekend and good times all over the place :)
🎉🎉🥳 Congratulations 🥳🎊🎊

What a great way to spend the day! Love the Gin too. ♥
It was a great day and the gin was a pleasant surprise :)
The return of Lucky Eddie! Well done on the raffle win there, is Vegas the next stop on your lucky tour? lol Interesting fact about Aber, and that it's more Welsh than Scottish. Over the centuries I'm sure a lot has been mixed together around there. That's one of the nice things about the UK and Europe is the close proximity to all the history. Here the history goes back a few hundred years at most unless you're excavating pyramids in the jungles of Guatemala.
Sounds like a great weekend, keep that lucky streak alive!
Yes it is a Celtic thing, and there are even Aber..places in Brittany in the north of France.
The history is amazing in Europe and we are lucky to have it. If used to tickle me when in the States and people talking about really old buildings from a couple hundred years.
Yeah it was a cracking weekend and let's see about the lucky streak. No Vegas but I did buy a Euromillions lottery ticket tonight!
