Rain spoiled all our Christmas plan

Today is a special day, as we all meet on this day for our mega annual cricket event, at our ground, to play a match and enjoy some good food. A lot of arrangements are done and this year was special, because we built up a new ground from scratch. Our previous ground was gone in the road expansion, so we demanded help from the Contractors doing the road work for the National highway authorities, local administration, sought help from local politicians, leaders, villagers to help us build this new ground. Even though the initiative started months ago, during election, our guys spiltted in favor of different candidates, bringing uncertainties. However, again two months back, we started a campaign to unite everyone for the good, the sport itself, keeping personal interests away. Everyone was summoned and asked not to discuss anything else, other than how we can bring the ground to a reality. Elections come and go, leaders come and go, but the ground, the spirit, the sports remain forever. So work was again started, with contributions from each of us and then united we stood up again, to bring every possible help to complete the work before December 25th. The road Contractor provided all the help along with all their machinery, trucks, raw materials and also filled the area at no cost to us, which would have easily costed at least three to four hundred thousand rupees(₹) to us. To give you an idea of the magnitude of work, here are some photographs, that showcased the dedication of everyone working to make our dream true.
These are some select few images out of thousands of photos shared in our whatsapp group, to motivate everyone and you can see many of us joined and worked physically as well, whenever possible - yes, that is our generation - no guilt doing our own work. A perfect example of great team work, working day and night, to make the December 25th event success.
The final preparation started couple of weeks back, with T-shirt design, food planning and fees (along with T-shirt size) were collected from everyone, for that. You might have seen my earlier posts on this great event, everyone was so excited for this day, unfortunately a low pressure situation popped up and its raining continuously since yesterday, and the event stands cancelled now.
I purposely plan to stay at my native place during this period, to attend this event, and make my parents happy at the same time. For me its like celebrating the Christmas as well as new year beforehand with them, bringing a lot of sweets, good food and whatever they wish. Mom wanted to eat a specific fish today and I was happy to spend couple of hours in the rain, finding joy for her. We need to be happy with what we have, not everything happens as planned. The event is now planned for Sunday, only if the weather gets better by tomorrow, but we are going to enjoy the rain with a small dinner party with friends tonight.

This is a new ground, initially there were many grassy plants, which have been cleared. I am surprised to see that your leaders have gifted such a beautiful ground. Cricket is a popular game for boys in India, a good player is born from these grounds. The leaders' call for building a ground is commendable because it is very important for the bright future and fitness of children. If children and youth are healthy, the nation can move forward. Sports not only improve physical health but also good for mental health.
For us, its a must, like a habit.

This pitch making and its construction is looking quite professional. I can see the excavator, and transit miller, at work. That concrete you got is of very high quality because they were mixed in a controlled environment(RMC-Ready Mix Concrete), and the grade of the concrete is well maintained as per the IS codes. Today the cost of concrete is itself is 10,000 inr at least per cubic meter. One transit miller capacity is 6 cum. So the concrete cost itself is 60,000. The overall cost is certainly above one lakh including all other base preparations. If you got all these free of cost, it is really a good negotiation and liaisoning from your end. Good job.

Yes, getting all those excavator, transit miller, roller and other equipment from the contractor helped us to get ready fast. Waiting for Sunday, will share, if it happens.

Anyway, nothing friend, Merry Christmas to you and all your family, it's a shame that after joining forces in search of achieving the Cricket Field, the event was suspended but we hope it can be done later for the enjoyment of your friends and your own. . We must put aside personal ambitions as they say and look for the good for everyone, they made a great effort as a group.

You are lucky to have got a big and flat ground, apt for a high class cricket stadium. Red/yellow soil is good for sports related use.

Merry Christmas, this post of cricket ground reminded me of my childhood playing cricket with just a bat and ball nothing more with my friends, just needed a ground to play 😁.

Rain is sometimes beneficial and sometimes it causes hampers in our works or plans. But hope you enjoyed your day. It seems like a busy day for you as I can see some constitution work is going on.
