But then something changed in his mind.

Home is the most comfortable place for all of us and that was no exception for Dad, I repeatedly asked him if he wants to go home as Mom is alone and he was very happy to be back to his place. So I decided to leave him at his comfort as we had a trip planned for three days, starting today so everything felt like a good plan. As he was brought in an ambulance, we did not even bring much of his accessories except what you see him wearing. So I thought, it would be good to take him there and he will find more peace and comfort in presence of Mom - his life long partner for more than five decades. The assurance of Mom being present all along with him and taking care, is a whole different feeling and he always acknowledges that.

But as I packed his medicines and prepared to leave, he showed some kind of withdrawal symptom and was not sure what to do. He was not willing to get up and come with me and we had to convince him a lot that he will have better feelings at home. At that moment, it felt he was like a small kid who does not listen to anything and the only way to deal with him is to give comfort and encourage. Life shows so much reality - I have heard when people get old they behave like a child and we are experiencing that now and I am happy to see my kids seeing the same because I never experienced this as a kid because our grand parents left much before. I will share another lovely experience about Dad that showed how we care for little things and how they matter a lot at some point of life.

I planned to drop him and come next day, but then Mom asked to extend another day, as she was not feeling well. I brought this Pager which I have made ready, and kept at appropriate places, because Dad is not willing to wear it. This is the challenge with their generation who are not very tech savvy.

However, he remembers his belongings and the box where he keeps his money - we love his gestures showing up as a responsible Dad and still controlling.

Before coming back, I had to explain his medicines schedules several times to Mom, even though I wrote everything on a Paper. Unlike us, she does not want to look at the writing every time and is more comfortable remembering them by heart. It's because of her they are able to live alone there and it's encouraging to see her spirits at the age of 75. I have repeatedly requested her to be very very careful next 3-4 days as I am going out of the city in a trip, even though I watch them on CCTV very often.

This trip may lay a foundation for a startup to accept HBD for which I had started some conversation with the owner of our favorite restaurant - he has built a new resort at his home place which is in an island. He will be personally present to take care of us - we have grown a lovely bonding over these years. Hopefully, I can explain him more and something will evolve - again hope and positive thinking is the only way forward, along with struggles.
