A lovely Sunday to unwind

This morning, I woke up to a notification on my phone about my screen time. It had surged by 75%, averaging 5.5 hours on the phone. While it wouldn’t have been as concerning if most of that time had been spent on Hive, it wasn’t. In fact, I was barely in Hive last week. Instead, I spent a lot of my time glued to the screen on Venezuela’s news on X, with the correspondent mix of anxiety, frustration, and anger.

On Thursday I was at the Venezuelan rally in Bogota that took place in the Plaza de Lourdes, a very well known and central square in the city, in the Chapinero area and so called because it is flanked by the Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, a neo-gothic style church. The plaza was quite crowded for a Thursday mid-morning convocation, when people are supposed to be at work. The atmosphere was cheerful and optimistic. But we already know that the desired change has not yet been achieved.

The news of the last few days, with more arrests, do nothing but demoralize me about the situation of the country and I need to disconnect a bit and this morning notification has been a wake-up call.

So to unwind, this Sunday, the husband and I put on sports clothes to go for a walk, taking advantage of the Sunday Ciclovias in the city.

Before our walk, we made a strategic stop for breakfast at a Venezuelan food establishment. We indulged in empanadas and tequeños. And we even had Malta! It couldn’t have been a more perfect way to kickstart the day.

From there we went for a walk along Carrera 15 on the Ciclovía towards the north of the city. The day was sunny and the sky was completely clear, when we went out there was not a single cloud to be seen.

It was so sunny that at some point we decided to leave the Ciclovia and look for some shade in a nearby park. We explored the park on the 106th street, but I’ll save the details for Wednesday Walk ;)

Our total walking distance covered was approximately 10 kilometers, leaving us both exhausted yet content.

We took a break at the apartment and later ventured out again in the early afternoon.

We headed to the area of Parque de la 93, which was noticeably more crowded compared to previous weeks. It was evident that people were finally returning to the city after the holiday break.

We visited a restaurant near the park called Triu Raclette, which specializes in sandwiches with a layer of cheese on top. My beef tenderloin sandwich was particularly delicious.

To conclude our afternoon, we savored an Arequipe ice cream while sitting in the park, watching the sunset.

Sundays in Bogota are sublime, a combo of relaxation and delicious food, perfect for unwinding after a week of stress. However, after this indulgent day with the food, we must go back on track on a healthy diet during the week.

And while my heart and mind remain deeply connected to Venezuela, it’s crucial for my mental health to redirect my thoughts and attention and focus on other aspects of my life. Let's see if I succeed...

My beef tenderloin sandwich was particularly delicious.

Now that looked delicious! But then again so did the lady at the sign Super Eli!

Ah yes I heard about the president thing unfortunately.

Getting your Venezuelan food made me think if there is much of a difference between Colombian and Venezuelan food. Then I thought right enough there is between French and British and Spanish and British right enough.

Have a wonderful new week querida💙

Actually we do have many similar things. In Colombia there are arepas and empanadas as well. But I tell you a secret, ours are better haha. There is a legendary rivalry between both countries to claim the origin of the arepa. The truth is that I am of the opinion that the origin is shared. After the Colony we were for a while the same country, when we were the Gran Colombia. But our arepas are unbeatable in one thing, the fillings. Here the arepa in general is not stuffed and that is part of the magic of the flavor, to put inside of it whatever you can think of.

Happy Tuesday, Super Ed!💙

Okay the same country that sort of makes sense, as I note things that seem similar (names things etc).
It is like Scottish fish and chips are way better than English fish and chips for example jeje!
Well I enjoyed my arepa with roast beef remember.

Glad to see you back being active on Hive. Happy Tuesday when you get up Super Eli💙

Sometimes being in the loop on current events is too deppressing. It nice you had a little downtime with your hubs. I have to say that sandwich is 🔥🤤

That's right!!! But sometimes it's hard to avoid getting caught in that loop especially when the situation in your country is so critical :(.
The sandwich was yummy, hehe!!!
Have a wonderful week 😄

I try to spend as little time as possible on X/Twitter because it has become a black hole of good energies. But I haven't been able to help but look out these days with the hope of a change for so many friends that I'm having there.

I'm glad that despite the circumstances you enjoyed a nice Sunday. Especially that ice cream at sunset. 😁 Hugs!

a black hole of good energies.

Defines perfectly what X has become. But these days it's been inevitable to be stuck waiting for a miraculous news that obviously didn't come :( But anyway life goes on.

A big hug!

Ohoo, looks like a fun walk and with a yummy food tripping on the side. I don't know the kind of empanadas you had there but hearing the name made me crave for some empanada to. Filipino version, hehe.

Oh!!! Now I need to research how are the empanadas filipino style hehe! I want to try them ;)

Good morning dear friend @coquicoin
Much of the world has its eyes on what is happening in Venezuela, it is sad what the people who live there have to go through and endure.
What a beautiful way to relax, walking, visiting beautiful places, enjoying excellent food and dessert, what more could one ask for?
Have a happy and prosperous week

What is happening in Venezuela is heartbreaking everywhere you look. The saddest thing is that there seems to be no solution in the short term. But life goes on and we must go on.

Have an excellent week!

What a lovely day indeed! I hope your local political situation improves. I've personally detached myself from local political happenings since the last election. I discovered it's better for my overall health. LOL! However, you did have such a lovely Sunday. I'd like to have days like this one too. It's always good to be able to go out and about , walk in a park, dine at a cafe, and a enjoy a perfect dessert to complete the day.

Thank you very much @iamraincrystal! It was a great day indeed.

I try not to let political events affect me, but there are times when the situation is so serious that there is no way to stay out of it. Hopefully things will get better at some point, I hope so ...

Have a great week!

If we read and watch the new one what's happening in our country, it can only be frustrating and depressing. Now I avoid doing it to save myself from worries.😐 It's nice that you went out to relax and have fun.♥️

Yes, sometimes the best thing to do is to avoid the news, however sometimes circumstances won't let us no matter how hard we try.

Have a lovely week! 🤗
