My Journey In Fashion Illustration

avatar

Hey lovelies, so I began working on a new skill still on fashion tho, but the illustration aspect. I worked on a sketch of a fashion croqui pose.

This was my first project for the week and it was fun throughout

I used an a4 paper, pencil, ruler and eraser

With my pencil and ruler I draw lines just as seen ensuring the space between the horizontal lines are all equal

Next thing is to label as seen

img_0.47943812618760623

For the part labelled head, measure 1 inch on both sides from the mid vertical line and draw the line down. Join curves from top and end of line
From the head, take an extension which serve as the neck into the portion labeled bust.
From the mark of 2, draw a line such that the neck extension on your left sits on the line. This would make the other neck extension longer. Still from the 2 point, link a line to the mid vertical line on point 3.
From the shoulder line, mark 4.5cm such that the mid point sits on the middle vertical line.
On the waist line, mark 2.5cm such that the mid point sits also on the middle vertical line. Then connect the points to achieve as seen.

Wow, we're gradually getting there

On the line labeled hips, mark 2.5cm from the vertical midline. Using a curve, join from mark waist to the 2.5 mark on the hips.
Take the middle of the 2.5 mark and draw a line from the hip line to meet at the mid line of mark 9 (floor).
At line knee make a small circle to cut through all 4 points.
Connect from mid line of point 4 to edge of circle at point 6 and from the curved hip to other edge of circle.
Repeat circle for line ankle and draw line to connect. Create the foot from line 8-9.

We're almost there

On the other side, still on line 4, mark 2.5 from rom the mid vertical line.
Recall that on line 3 we marked 2.5, from one side, mark the centre point.
On line 9, from the mid line, measure and mark on point 2 inches. Connect from the mid point of waist line to the 2inches point on line 9.
On line 6, draw a circle marking knee, just like the other side but this time, it should sit and not go through the 4 sides.
Using a straight line, join from waist line to hip line. Continue connecting as you did for the other side.
From the outline of upper body to the waist on the side with the curved hip, mark 2.5cm on the slant line drawn from point 2 passing through line 3.
Connect from shoulder line to the circle drawn around your 2.5cm mark for both sides and also to the hip outline. For the other side, below the line, mark 3cm from the body outline and draw a circle around the marked point. Connect lines as earlier did.
Voila

Your sketch is ready.
This is the basis for a fashion illustration. I hope this would be helpful to other fashion lovers here

That's a nice sketch and useful too. Unfortunately OCD is not the right community for this type of content as it is for topics that don't fit anywhere.

You had the tag right and we have a needlework community, called Needleworkmonday, where this topic would fit, or there's another one, called Education.

We're encouraging users to post in appropriate communities, to reach the right audience. Here's a guide I put together to help you learn about how communities work -> Communities Explained - Newbie Guide.

Once you posted your post in the right community, you can then cross post it to OCD community. Here's a guide about cross posting.

Please don't delete any post with the purpose of reposting it in another community as that can be considered abuse! Leave this post here, you'll get it right next time.

I used to create a community specifically for fashion and its industry. It's called "Mode Ruche" you can also share sketches, trends, photos, analysis , and everything that involves fashion.https://peakd.com/c/hive-146706/trending. I know it's a little dead at the moment but would be nice if you know someone that also fits that to subscribe and post there!
