Reliving Those High School Memories

Memories man, what would this life be without memories. We basically live by and live for the memories. This life for me could be basically useless without the memories. Whether good, bad or in between, you simply cannot ignore how vital memories are.

When I sit down and remember the fun I used to have in school, I just smile hopelessly. I am still in school but I feel the fun I had in Junior high and senior high school cannot be matched. Maybe it’s because in university you have the freedom to live how you want.

Back in Junior high school, we would play football during every break time. But one thing I miss so much is my teachers. My teachers taught me both academically and shared with us some of their life experiences. I remember during French class we would make a lot of noise and basically not get any French word right. We just used that class to make fun till our French teach, madam Dora got pissed at us and made the class more strict. Hehe, that class became a lot more tough with the verb “to go” and verb “to be” things.

I cannot forget the Information Technology classes. The way we used to run from our classrooms to the computer labs was so fun. I’m not sure a lot for people experienced this but for those of who did, I’m sure you had fun doing it. The thing is that regardless of when you entered the lab you’d still get a computer to use but then as stubborn as we were, we had installed some games and videos on some of the computers. So of course, we couldn’t allow them to go to waste.

I cannot forget how my friends and I used to enjoy those Wednesday worships. Those were good times to have fun and release some stress. I wasn’t a Christian but I just enjoyed clapping my hands and watching the Christians sing and dance.

Fast forward to senior high school and that was just another place for so much fun. Using illegal stuff made the school more interesting. I can’t forget sleeping at around 2am just because of cooking spaghetti. It was illegal to cook spaghetti and so the best time to do that was around 2am and 3am when the prefects were asleep. We used heaters to prepare the spaghetti. The fun wasn’t really in the preparation because that was scary but the fun was in waking up the woman who used to sell the raw spaghetti. You could stand at her window and knock for more than 30 minutes before she’ll respond to you. She’ll complain but still sell.

Another memory I’d love to relive is our weekend washing. On weekends, my friends and I would bring our clothes out to wash. We would sit in front of the bathroom, talk and wash for hours. That was usually the best time to catch up because everyone was busy during the week doing their own thing and using that time to make fun of each other was golden.

How can I forget our inter school competitions. Those games were the standouts of my senior high school days. We used the Kumasi sports stadium for all our sporting activities and it was so much fun.

During my time in senior high school, we win all our athletic competitions in the stadium and ended up having an 11 year consecutive winning streak of super zonal athletic competitions. The sports team of my school could run. We terrorized all the schools to a point that we were known as the sports school. Even people outside of our region called us that. I went to our country’s capital while wearing my school t-shirt and someone called me a student from the sports school. I felt very proud although my school wasn’t acknowledged for academic purposes.

What made these standout was whenever we won. Man, we would throw sachets water at each other while celebrating and you would think that’s violent but it was actually very fun. Those few minutes were we would throw water at each other and get soaked we worth the sitting and cheering our people on from the stands.

If I had the chance to go back to senior high, I would choose my school over and over again. We were a whole vibe. 😮‍💨

How can we ever forget French teachers and the verb ‘to be’. That was what they always taught.😂
Oh and ICT class and always learning with Mavis beacon. Man, those were the days.😂😂 I think primary school was the best. As we grow the fun reduces I guess.🥲

I can relate to the French classes, they were usually a time to have fun, the words were just too funny to learn, I would relive these days over again, if given the opportunity to

I totally agree with you. Highschool days were fun!!. Too bad, my school wasn't known sport excellence but when it came to academic competitions, we usually topped.

Cooking spaghetti in the night😂😂. I wish I did this one too. Heaters were totally banned from my highschool so it either you beg the kitchen women to cook for you or you Chew the raw spaghetti; the both choices were not an option for us😂.

Your post reminded me so much of my highschool days✨

What FUN memories, Yahuzah!!! Sounds like you had such a great time at school. For the most part, I really enjoyed High School too. My school had a nice mix of Academics and Sports. I did pretty well in both aspects but we did not have a lady selling dry spaghetti at 2 o'clock in the morning 😂😂😂 Why do I feel like I missed out?!? hahaha !LOLZ !PIZZA

I dropped in from Dreemport this evening.

Cherished memories are just priceless! You had a lot of fun in your high school days, love the part about cooking spaghetti at night and the sports competition. I had similar experience and lived for the thrill that come with it back then!
