How to properly clean a comb 🍋

Was sagt ihr dazu? Kanntet ihr die Methode bereits? Wie reinigt ihr eure Kämme?

How to clean a comb with lemon and hot water

English

Everyone who uses a comb probably knows the problem. After a while, combs become gross. Even if you rinse them off daily, over time sebum accumulates between the comb teeth which is very difficult to impossible to remove.

I used to try to clean combs with a small screwdriver or brush, but it's a Sisyphean task and never really worked out well.

I did some research on the internet and tried all kinds of tips like washing combs with shampoo, dish detergent, laundry detergent, etc. until I finally found the solution that really works. Yeah.

How to clean a (plastic, carbon, metal) comb really thoroughly from sebum

The trick is to soak the comb in hot water with lemon juice. To do this, place the comb in a heatproof mold or in the closed sink. The comb itself must also be heat resistant.

Then squeeze a half to whole lemon and spread the lemon juice on the comb. Then heat water, for example in a kettle, until it starts to boil and pour the hot water onto the comb until it is completely immersed in hot water and then let the lemon soak for about half an hour and let the water cool down.

Then rinse the comb and clean it with a brush. The deposits are then gone as if by magic.

However, the method has a disadvantage, combs made of plastic bleach through the procedure and lose their color. But you have a really clean comb again.

What do you think? Did you know the method? How do you clean your combs?

I like yout idea of using lemon i will try it .

  • Here is my natural method that im using to clean my comb :

1- Remove any loose hair from the comb by running your fingers or a toothpick through the teeth.

2- Fill a bowl or sink with warm water and add a few drops of mild liquid soap or shampoo. You can also use a mixture of equal parts water and vinegar.

3- Place the comb in the soapy water or vinegar solution and let it soak for about 10-15 minutes. This will help loosen any dirt, oils, or product buildup.

3- Use an old toothbrush or a small brush with soft bristles to scrub the comb gently. Pay close attention to the teeth and any grooves or crevices. This will help remove any remaining debris.

4- Rinse the comb thoroughly under running water to remove any soap residue. Make sure to rinse off all the cleaning solution.

5- Pat dry the comb with a clean towel or let it air dry completely before using it again.

Additional tips:

If your comb is made of a delicate material like wood or certain types of plastic, avoid soaking it for too long or using harsh cleaning agents as they can damage the comb.
For a natural disinfectant, you can add a few drops of tea tree oil or lavender oil to the warm water. These essential oils have antimicrobial properties.
Regularly cleaning your comb will help maintain its hygiene and prevent the transfer of oils and dirt to your hair. Aim to clean it at least once a month or more frequently if it gets visibly dirty or sticky.
Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning if your comb has any specific recommendations.

Chat GPT would do it similar as @tetraktys :D

Cleaning a comb is an essential part of personal grooming and hygiene. Follow these simple steps to keep your comb clean and in good condition:

1. Remove hair from the comb

  • Gently remove any hair that is stuck between the teeth of the comb. You can use your hands, a toothpick, or a small brush to do this.

2. Prepare a soapy solution

  • In a small bowl or container, mix warm water with a few drops of mild liquid soap or shampoo. The water should be enough to completely submerge the comb.

3. Soak the comb

  • Place the comb in the soapy solution and let it soak for 15-20 minutes. This will loosen any dirt, grease, or product build-up.

4. Scrub the comb

  • Use an old toothbrush, soft brush, or a cloth to gently scrub the teeth and body of the comb. Pay attention to the areas between the teeth as dirt and grime can accumulate there.

5. Rinse the comb

  • Rinse the comb thoroughly under running water to remove all soap residue. Make sure the water is not too hot, as it can damage the comb, especially if it's made of plastic.

6. Dry the comb

  • Gently shake off excess water and pat the comb dry with a clean towel. To ensure complete drying, let the comb air-dry on a clean, dry surface, preferably in a well-ventilated area.

7. Inspect and store

  • Once the comb is completely dry, inspect it for any remaining dirt or build-up. If necessary, repeat the cleaning process. Store the comb in a clean and dry place, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.

Remember to clean your comb regularly to maintain good hygiene and keep your hair healthy.

I do not need a comb :D
