The Power of Shared Meals in Strengthening Family Ties

Family is probably one of the best parts of everyone's life, and that's due to the unconditional love, care, support, and much more that we then get from our family members. On most occasions, such love can't be gotten from friends, neighbors, and the like, and one thing that keeps the family together always is bonding, having time for one another to bond, reminisce on the past, and share joyous and painful moments together.

While that's great and awesome means to clear our mind and feel loved, it isn't everywhere family who have time to bond, most are too busy to have time for such, but a one way such family still have time to bond and sit down together is during meal and via sucj moment you'll still at least have time to enquire about each other during meal and catch up with happenings in each other lives.

Growing up my family use to have awesome times together, especially during meal and down here it's funny how table manners of not talking isn't really a thing with us because we tend to talk, compliment the food, the dedication of mum and how much of a good cook she's , via that we often discuss other happens around us, but as time goes on and now that we're fully grown, there are few chances of having such experiences.

The reason is that most of us stay in different states that are far away from one another, and there is no time to bond or talk over the phone. About 6 years ago, I could remember mom calling each one of us to make sure we traveled down to celebrate the then-coming Christmas celebration together at her place, and so once we vacated at work, I traveled down to their place.

On arriving, I can remember her complaining about how most of us don't bond much again and the need to have family time to chit chat, discuss family matters, and overall bridge the gap that's becoming wider between us. Everyone obliged and offered apologies for getting too overwhelmed with work, and so we walk towards changing the narrative now that we're around.

To make this a reality, my siblings and I offered to prepare some food so we could all sit down and eat, then discuss just like the good old days, and so we paid a visit to the Mark, purchased several food items, and went back home to begin cooking, which I did alongside my siblings as mom was asked not to bother herself because we'd go through the stress and make her and dad feel like royals.

When the food was ready, we all sat around the dining table and ate the meals that comprised pounded yam and egusi soup. While each of us got to catch up on our lives, I couldn't help but realize how far away I'd been from my loved ones due to my hustle to make ends meet. Well, along the same lines, it was then that my brother broke the news to us that he's planning on getting married.

He went on to tell us about the lady, and we all discussed extensively how each of the preparations would go. We also discussed expenses and how they should be shared among us to ease the pressure on my brother. Well, that's mostly the case in this part of the world. Well, you're getting married. It's not only the man who contributed towards the event; family members also play their part in making everything go smoothly.

At the end of that meal and discussing, we all realized what we'd missed and made sure not to distance ourselves from one another, as we're all we've got and creating distance between each other isn't the way to go, but all thanks to that meal that evening, the previous gap between us was bridged.

That makes sense. I actually love the fact that your mum was the one who suggested that you all see and have wonderful time together. It even brings about reminiscence of things that have happened in the past and we can just laugh about it and move on
