Crochet With Me | Made A Granny Square Bucket Hat

Finally had the time to continue my crochet class after a short break due to house hunting and busy schedule last month which didn't give me the time to do the necessary stuff, my plan was to learn how to make male shorts before which is still on going because I was short of the color yarn and yet to restock. Since I know the single and double crochet already, I decided to take the next step to learn granny square crochet which contain a lot of double crochet pattern and very different from the usual chain stitch that I use to do at the very beginning

What I used

Crocheting hook(3.5mm)
Brown and creamy yarn
A pair of scissors
Yarn needle.

To make each square, I had to start with the 5chains at first, then placed it in the first chain and slip stitch to from a circle, I now made 4 chains then made 3 double crochet inside the circle, it was not that easy putting everything at first because I redoing it because of some mistakes. After the first 3 double crochet, I made 1 triple crochet then followed by another 3 double crochet, did these 2 more times which gave me the first circle row. To make the other rows was way easier than the first, I just chain 4 at first, then made 2 dc in the same stitch I made the 4 chain, then did 1 dc into other stitch and at every corners, I made 2dc, 1 tc, and 2dc which make it 5, it went on and on like that till I complete the 5 rows. then I did it again till I got my 6 squares which I joined together using slip stitch at the very end.

Making the top was the most confusing part for me, at first I didn't get the steps after entering the 4th row and I made a lot of mistakes which make it to start folding up instead of straighten, it now look like I was making ruffle pattern so I had to loose everything and start all over again. This time around I made 3 chains, then slip stitch it to the first chain to make circle and I did 12 dc inside it to form the first ring row, then I did 2 dc inside each stitch to make the next row. I had to change the pattern from row 3, I made 2dc in 1 stitch and 1 dc in the next to the very end, row 4 i made 2dc in one stitch then the next 2 stitch i did 1 dc each row I add +1 dc, on and on till I made 7 rows. To attach the top, I had Single crochet to the squares all through then slip stitch it to the top.

It really came out nicely even though it require lot of work and any little mistake can change the whole look. Since I use two colors for the whole process, I had to make the down part with the same color combo but it was way easy since I just use 1dc in every stitch till I'm satisfied with the length and it really look good on me. I need to start yarn shopping anytime soon for my next project, guess it will be something I've want to crochet and it might take a while.

Great job, you are learning very fast. Mistakes are always part of the learning process, because starting afresh will help in straightening it.
