Our first tapas in Spain
First tapas of 2022
I should have mentioned that of course, we had plenty of tapas until this trip to Spain, but I like to capture a diary of our experiences and of course, the first tapas after arrival in this town have to be captured. We are lucky to have a bunch of tapa bars just across the street and therefore we didn't have to walk far to find a place to enjoy our first tapas.
I admit that I found it very difficult to find out what kind of tapas they offered as a lot of the things written on the card were totally new to me and where I could discover the usual "sardinas" for example, I found it harder to even understand 50% of most of the other things written on there. It may have been the handwriting or maybe my rusty Spanish, which by the way, turned out not to be that rusty as so far I've managed just fine ordering anything, yay!
After ordering our drinks
It was time to select our tapas and my boyfriend went for the white shrimp (I think they aren't gambas but I'm not sure lol), while my daughter and I went for a simple fries with some meat. I have to admit it was not nice at all and worth the money, the second tapa we decided to try the sardines again, I remember really hating them the last time we lived in Spain, but I told myself that I'd try everything (or at least as much as possible) this time, even olives. And I really despise those too lol. I can tell you, the sardines were not nice at all, my boyfriend also didn't like them so my guess is that this is just a cheap and not that great tapa bar. So far for our first tapa experience of the year, lol.
It got better
While these weren't tasteful at all, their neighbors apparently serve great tapas which we tried the next day. I was surprised to find out that we have to pay for each tapa, if we'd known this, we would have stuck to only 1 tapa and not even ordered another round. maybe that was more a thing in the Granada area or the other way around, paying for them is more something from this area? Or who knows, maybe it changed over the past years, maybe @whywhy can enlighten me here as he probably knows, lol.
Either way, it's fine by me, this way I will stick to one tapa instead of picking another one if I'm not hungry anyway. When it's free, the Dutch in me comes to the surface lol.
If you live in Spain, how is this in your area? Free tapas, paid tapas? Both? Please let me know in a comment!
Thanks for stopping by!

They literally have attempeted my murder and are trying to kill me with V2K and RNM. Five years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism ..... https://ecency.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem
YUp free Tapas are only available in Granada province and several parts of Almeria, furthermore, you will pay for them in most other provinces. And if you wanna know which places are good, check out how many Spanish people are having them ;)
LOL that's why we first went here, but the neighbors are WAY busier and so we sit there now. Much better..
It's always an adventure to find the good places. Sometimes it can be a mistake and other times you find a real hidden gem. In mu region (Murcia) you don't get a tapa when ordering a drink. It's only common in a few regions as far as I know.
Yeah so I heard today, I had no idea!
We lived in the Granada area before and were used to getting them for free every time we ordered a drink :)
I don't mind paying a buck or even 2 for something that tastes nice though, just no need to order stuff that I don't think I will like :)
Though it's past 12 am here, your post makes me feel hungry. 😆
LOL sorry about that, better to wait until morning then!
Here's a tip for the inconvenience, lol.

Here's a !CTP tip :)
The pictures look good, so I am surprised when you mentioned that they taste nice. Food is the sources of happiness.
They didn't though :) lol
Plain without much flavor ... the best thing was probably the meat they served with the fries :)

LOL, he thought they were way too salty, maybe because we're not used to it?

Wow pity your first tapas was not the best experience. I do not know about the pricing but it could be based on regions. The shrimp looks as though the salt was thrown on there as a last minute way to give it some flavor. I am sure ther were too salty.
My boyfriend found them way too salty indeed. I didn't try them.
We pay €1.80 per tapa and part of the tapas cost a little more so they add a little extra fee like €0.80 on top of the €1.80. But for the tapas we have across the street, this is very reasonable to have a lunch honestly.
A few days ago they had paella from 15.30 but we were there earlier, I hope we can catch another day where they serve it as I bet this will be of good quality as well.
I hope you find a good tapas place- eating tapas in Spain is the thing to do but it must be tasty!!
