Trash Cleanup With My Husband ♻️ Khmer New Year Tourism Litter
My family came to live on our land for three nights and three days, and it was also the Khmer New Year holiday. My neighbor's land, he does not live, and the land is empty, making tourists want to visit and eat with family and friends.
There are also some tourists camping. At first I saw happy people there, I was happy too, but the thing that made me bored and unhappy later was that after they left, they always left in the trash from their food.
My family and I started picking up trash they were throwing away. I'm really angry and wonder why they throw rubbish in such a natural place? After I pick up the trash, I write a sign forbidding littering.
After I wrote the no-garbage sign, I went to pick up my luggage. When I came back, I saw many guests eating and new garbage that had just been thrown away.
I do not want to disturb them, but I want to tell them that, hello everyone, come and visit here, okay, but please do not throw garbage here and please pack the garbage, because this is private land, so there are no staff the state came to clean up.
This is the first day I picked up trash with my husband.
This is the second day we pick up trash. I have to talk a lot with tourists about garbage and they say they will take the garbage back, but after they leave, they still leave the garbage for us to pick up.
In fact, we can not pick up the trash because it is not our land, but we do not know how to live near the garbage. And we want to keep everything clean by nature, no plastic, but when we do this we feel very tired with people who do not think about garbage.

It's really nice trying to keep your environment clean
I know it's painful how people throw dirt carelessly
They know they throw rubbish, but some people do not care. I wish for those people to think about plastic us their living.

This is a big problem, in some places you have unexpectedly got a lot of trash which is quite sad, but it is also really comforting not to get any trash in many places. The surrounding environment is really great, an enjoyable environment.

I am so sorry about the littering but is there a way to contact the property owner and tell them to fence the area? I really don't think you guys should be the ones to pick up the trash! Littering is a common habit among many Malaysians. It totally disgusted me.
Yes, I feel the same way with the people in my district. I met the landlord and talked a lot about it, but he said he was too busy to have time to do anything with the tourists. But he also told them not to litter but they did not listen. He had the idea at the national festival again to do something with tourists who wanted to visit his land. Thank you for your feedback. I totally agree with you, that littering is a bad habit and shouldn't be imitated, it's strange how people can be irresponsible with the garbage from their leftovers.

It should be an unwritten rule to take your own garbage with you and discard it at either the nearest trash bin or at home, but if it isn't I think you should put up signs. Maybe ask your neighbor's - if you know them - permission to put up signs of "no littering" or "take your litter with you".
I put signs and I even told them. The owner of that land put a sign too but it doesn’t really work. Some of them did take their trash away but some of just don’t care. Have a nice day.
Signs don't always help that's true, unless there's an official written rule by government and that there are fines linked to those laws. Not to mention that it should also be mandated.

I get it. It's frustrating. There's also a lot of trash in Portugal, especially along the side of the road. For a long time it frustrated me, then I decided to just pick it up and feel good about doing that - proud of myself - instead of feeling anger and frustration towards the people creating the trash.

In Cambodia also but now they are as many trash like before specially in big cities. Still they a lot of trash everywhere. I do feel proud when I pick up trash but I get angry when people said they will pick them up but they didn’t.
You have such a beautiful spot, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be when people leave their rubbish. It's disrespectful especially if they see your signs. You do a great job picking up the rubbish and hopefully, over time, people will adopt your ways and take theirs with them.
