¿Quién podría pensar que dentro de la ranura de una aguja de 3mm, por donde pasa el hilo, podría hacerse una obra de arte?

De forma inesperada, durante una visita rápida al Centro Comercial Andino nos topamos con la exposición "Las esculturas más pequeñas del mundo", de la artista microescultora y colombiana, Flor Carvajal.

Me acerqué a la exposición pensando que se trataba de algo relacionado al cine, pues los paneles de la presentación se ubicaban justo adelante del letrero de Cine Colombiana. Cuando me aproximé al lugar, un señor muy amablemente me extendió una lupa, allí comprendí que esta exposición sería diferente a cualquier cosa que yo hubiese visto antes.

Efectivamente, para realizar el "recorrido" y apreciar el arte, tocaba mirar a través de dicho instrumento óptico que permitiera ampliar las dimensiones de las minúsculas esculturas. Noté que representaban principalmente la cultura colombiana, la hamaca, la orquídea, la fauna, la marimonda, la cultura indígena...

Me hice la pregunta de cómo llegó esta mujer a ingeniárselas para realizar un trabajo tan diminuto, crear arte sobre una aguja, un alfiler, la cabeza de un fósforo, o pelo humano. En esta nota periodística encontré algunas respuestas. Se me hace maravilloso como su carrera artística despega gracias a la pregunta, aparentemente retórica, de un periodista. Hasta ese punto los retos que nos imponen y nos autoimponemos determinan nuestro camino.

Who could think that inside the slot of a 3mm needle, where the thread passes through, a work of art could be made?

Unexpectedly, during a quick visit to the Andino Shopping Center we came across the exhibition "The smallest sculptures in the world", by the Colombian artist and micro-sculptor, Flor Carvajal.

I approached the exhibition thinking that it was something related to cinema, as the panels of the presentation were located just in front of the Cine Colombiana sign. When I approached the place, a man very kindly handed me a magnifying glass, there I understood that this exhibition would be different from anything I had seen before.

Indeed, to make the "tour" and appreciate the art, I had to look through this optical instrument that allowed me to magnify the dimensions of the tiny sculptures. I noticed that they mainly represented the Colombian culture, the hammock, the orchid, the fauna, the marimonda, the indigenous culture?

I wondered how this woman managed to manage such tiny work, to create art on a needle, a pin, the head of a match, or human hair. In this journalistic note I found some answers. It is wonderful to me how his artistic career takes off thanks to a journalist's seemingly rhetorical question. To that extent the challenges we impose and self-impose determine our path.
