How’s your January Been?

I can’t believe January is finally over. We’ve been in January for as long as I can remember. I was telling a colleague at work yesterday that we’ve been in January for two months now. I think it has to be about the finances. Because almost everyday, I’m calculating the days left till I get money again. And then deciding whether I will eat in a particular morning or not based on my calculations.
To review how good or bad a month went, I usually rely on my monthly snapchat recap. And this month, it has very little content. I’m thinking the reason is probably because I’ve been doing the same thing over and over again.

From this sceenshot, its quite clear, its been all about work and food. And that’s basically what I’ve done. Compring this January to the previous, this one has been good so far. Atleast I’m not tired and stressed, I’m just broke😂.
But I’ve experienced the worst back pain. I think I’m still getting used to sitting for very long hours. It was so bad, I couldn’t sit for like 10 minutes straight. I had to stand up at intervals hoping it would get better. The only way the pain was less is when I lie down. As that pain finally subsided, it moved to my feet. And I believe that one is as a result of the shoes I’ve been wearing. I’m almost limping when ever i take off the hills and wear flats or walk barefoot.
But all this physical pain is better than not having any mental rest.
The most annoying thing is when you plan your budget without making room for miscellaneous items. And that’s how I had to buy a new charger when I had no other option. Buying an iPhone charger hurts me for some unknown reason.
On the flip side, I made a presentation of this project I’ve been working on to my boss and the other managers in my team. They were all impressed, and gave their feedback. My boss gave me some money to get myself a treat. This has been the only time this month that someone gave me money. I went ahead to use the money to buy plantain chips for my friends. Now I’m back to sqaure one😏.
And oh, I joined a book club, we are to read one book every month and discuss on the last day of the month.
I didn’t read the entire book. I was left with about 20 pages as at yesterday and I didn’t even participate in the discussion.
Overall, I’ve had a good month, a great month actually if compared to this time last year. And although I don’t see anything stressful coming up in the next month, I hope it’s actually so. Less stress and more food😂.
The Book Club, is it a paying thing?
Or just reading for fun and learning?
I doubt if my time and brain would allow me to go into such 🥲

The book club is free. The admin said he needed just a few people and I think he got that. I don’t get time to read as well. I read on my way to work. Reason for not being able to complete the book.
Not a salary, an allowance 😂😂. They paid us over a week ago and l’m already done spending it

Looking at people collecting pay and them saying January is 2 months. Me that I didn't see January as long what will I now say lol.
Generally I think January wasn't a stressful month for me. Maybe it's because we do 3 days on and 3 days off.
Of course it wouldn’t be stressful for you if you are only going to work everyday 3 days. I would be so happy if I had that. Atleast, I would be saving money.
That money they are giving us every month, it’s only able to cover transportation. I’m literally living paycheck to paycheck
And finally, what good would it do you if I’m pregnant at this time huh??😂 How will both of us survive on this small allowance?
Saving which money ? We buy our own food oo🤣. And it’s costly
Oh the other hand we have a bus that takes us to work so I don’t spend on transport, just food. Considering the time we leave home I have to do breakfast and lunch at work so it takes the allowance as well.
It’ll do me a lot of good cause I’ll go for naming ceremony 🤣

I hope the pain has finally eased, having to spend when you didn't budget for it can hurt.So my take home is to make provisions for any eventuality when budgeting.
