Beer Tasting: Red Eye Rabbit and Vizir Mr.Pride

(Edited)

Hello everyone! 🍻

I'm on vacation, on the island of Pag, Croatia. The weather here is hot, right now 33 degrees, and wet, and unpredictable. Yesterday we have two storms with rain and wind, today looks clear on all weather report servers. And, of course, is the right time to taste beers for the #beersaturday, 316 in a row.

I have two Slovenian beer bottles, I brought them with me to the island, they're just chilled enough, so I'm really going to try. As they are from breweries that I know, I expect them to be very good.
Well, we'll see about that.

First, the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Red Eye Rabbit Hazy Pale Ale

Brewed by Tektonik Brewery, Ljubljana Slovenia, for Bergkonig oziroma Hofer chain store.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.6% ABV, IBU 2/5. It's New England Pale Ale style, hoppy and juicy.

What do the master brewers say?

Wrapped in a silky veil of oily viscosity, the Red Eye Rabbit presents itself in its imposing role as a representative of the pale ale. Despite her relatively moderate alcohol level, she does not hide the softness of her body, in fact, it gives it away immodestly, thanks to a generous dose of oat and wheat flakes.
The already well-known hop varieties citra and ekuanot round off the experience with their fruity notes to create a pleasant whole. A finger-high thick head covers a cloudy body the colour of a milkshake, with a slight yellowish tinge. The pleasant aromas of citrus and tropical fruits are immodestly indulgent to the taste buds when sipped.

Ugh, like something out of a philosophical handbook

The beer is unfiltered, hazy yellow in colour, and foamy. It has no odour. The first sip goes smoothly down the throat, the hop bitterness is dominant but there is also a malty sweetness and some citrus too. In the aftertaste everything slowly disappears, the bitterness is the last thing.

A juicy and tasty beer. I guess it's more like a Session IPA because of the bitterness and lemony flavours, but then again it's not that bitter. It's a nice refreshing beer for a hot summer day. I would have no problem drinking another one but I don't have it. They have it in all the Hoffer stores, which are not in Croatia.

🍻 😎 🍻

While I'm tasting a beer, Athos is resting. Well, when he starts barking I know he'll want to go in the water. But he'll have to wait for the next beer :)

🍻 😎 🍻

Vizir Mr.Pride Pale Ale

Brewed by Pivovarna Vizir, Črnomelj, Slovenia.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.9 % ABV, IBU 2/5. It's Pale Ale style.

What do the master brewers say?

Elegant and premium flavours for your tastebuds! A pleasant and refreshing pale ale with a simple flavour, complemented by a lightly accented hop note. An excellent beer for everyday enjoyment.

They say that they're the oldest Slovenia craft brewery. I already tasted some beers by Vizir Brewery and all of them were good.

The beer is unfiltered, cloudy yellow but less so than the previous beer. The head is solid and creamy. It smells more of malt than hops. The first sip goes smoothly down the throat, and the sweetness of the malt is first on the palate, but a little later it's completely overwhelmed by the bitterness of the hops. The aroma of bread and hay is the most pronounced.
The bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for some time.

A tasty beer with an interesting bitter note, it reminds me of the classic English pale ales I used to drink in London, while the previous one was more of an American, or New England Pale Ale, with more pronounced citrus flavours.

All in all, both beers are very much suited to this summer heat, I'd like to have more, but here they only have some disgusting draft lagers (PAN). Unfortunately, I'm going to have to drink at least one of them, because here, at my caravan, my internet is very bad and if I want to post something I have to go to the bar next door where the connection is better.

Yeah, I know, I could drink water there, but I'm not really that kind of person.
I'll sacrifice myself and drink another draft lager for €3. What do we want, that's the price for upload :)

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to in this heat as I write this?

Eh, I skipped #newtunes yesterday, I didn't feel like posting any music, you know, it takes me a while to post eight new songs and a short description, yesterday I was more into storms, whisky and whatnot :)

Well, just right for today (even though it's not Sunday), I find one very old song,

Jefferson Airplane - Won't You Try/Sunday Afternoon

🍻 😎 🍻

Thank you for your attention.

I could drink Vizir easily, yet Tektonik ... I bought their box once with, I think, four different beers. I wasn't impressed, sorry.

Here's to swift internet, just enough sun, and no storms. Cheers from stormy Slovenia. !BEER
