Beer Tasting: Erzherzog Märzen and Bergkönig Dizzy Grizzly Hazy IPA

Hello everyone! 🍻

Here at home, we're back in the real summer, the storms have calmed down, and we are cleaning up after the tornado and floods. The summer season is at its peak, there are more than too many tourists passing by on their way to the sea, and it is impossible to get on the road by car because there are queues for kilometers.
Well, none of that worries me too much, I have other things to do...

It's time!
#beersaturday, 319 in a row is here, two bottles, one Austrian and one Slovenian, are chilling in the fridge for tonight's #beertasting.

🍻 😎 🍻

Erzherzog Märzen

Brewed by Erzherzog Leopold, a contract brewery from Austria.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.7% ABV. It's Märzen style beer, sometimes called Oktoberfest beer, which means that it's German lager with a bready and malty flavor, restrained bitterness, and dry finish.

Bought it in Eurospin's local store, but unfortunately, couldn't find any details about the brewery or brew masters, anyway, now it's here, all I can say now is that it's been a long time since I taste beer from a green bottle ...

The beer is a clear yellow color, there is a lot of head and it is slowly decreasing. It has no smell. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, with nothing special in the mouth, there is more malt and sweetness, the bitterness is more in the background, and it tastes more of bread and hay.
In the aftertaste, everything disappears except for a discreet bitterness that remains for a while.

Cold and drinkable, suitable for the summer heat, it doesn't stand out in any way, a typical lager as most people here are used to. The price is reasonable (€1.19), but I don't think it will find its way into my fridge. Too ordinary.

🍻 😎 🍻

One photo of a grasshopper today.
Nothing to do with beer, I don't think grasshoppers like beer either, but this morning I went out to the field to see what's up with the potatoes, and I used the hand mower to cut the potato leaves, which have dried out and it's time to dig the potatoes out.
Well, there I saw this creature on one of the horseradish leaves growing among my potatoes :)

🍻 😎 🍻

Bergkönig Dizzy Grizzly Hazy IPA

Brewed by Tektonik Craft Brewery, Ljubljana, Slovenia for Hofer Slovenia.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.8%, IBU 50. It's Hazy IPA or Juicy IPA or New England IPA (NEIPA) style, which means American IPA, hoppy bitterness and intense fruit flavors and aromas.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Dancing with slippers. The recipe construction was inspired by the tradition of craft breweries on the west coast of the American continent. The light and bright body shows subtle flavors of roasted malt with a hint of caramel, but it is mainly the rich aromas of exotic fruits that carry the flavor.
Grapefruit and passion fruit stand out the most, with pineapple, lychee and some bright stone fruits lurking slightly in the background. While this style is characterized by a strong bitterness, in this case, we have reined it in a little to achieve a pleasant balance.
Barley malt: Pale Ale, wheat malt: Blanc, wheat and oat flakes. Hops: Centennial, Chinook, Idaho 7.

I don't know why dancing with slippers? 🤔

The beer is cloudy yellow in color, the head is average and creamy. It smells of hops and fruit. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, I taste the bitterness of hops, grapefruit, and herbs, the sweetness of the malt is somewhere in the background, very discreet.
In the aftertaste, all the aromas disappear, and only the bitterness lingers for a while.

A drinkable, juicy, and very tasty beer. The bitterness is predominant but not extremely bitter as some IPAs can be. The pronounced fruity grapefruit flavor is just right to remind you that this is an American IPA. A good brew and, as it is available from the local Hofer store, it will certainly end up in my fridge.

Both beers I tried today are quite solid, but of course, I prefer the latter.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this? Nothing from my #newtunes post, yesterday, but it's related. Marc Ribot, who I mention in Newtunes, played guitar in this band.

Thank you for your attention.

Here the roads are much quieter and it is very peaceful! I guess the people are all driving to the sea! I hope the roads will be quieter when we drive in 2 weeks time.

In my opinion, it will still be crowded during that time, but in the opposite direction.
