Wednesday Walking Throught the Mindoro Cut
For this week's #wednesdaywalk, I decided to live on the edge and walk a historic stretch of rode about 30 minutes out of town. The area the road winds through is called the Mindoro Cut; thanks to a lack of vehicle traffic, I was able to visit the area for an easy enough #wednesdaywalk adventure.
One might wonder after reading the title above, "What is the Mindoro Cut?" Fortunately for me, there was an old historic marker nearby in a gravel parking lot that I could assist with an explanation.
That's quite a bit of rock and rubble hauled out of the area. Today, the cut still stands and is covered in engraved graffiti from folks from history.
The day was perfect for a walk. The temperatures were in the 70Fs today, and a cool breeze filled the air. It was a perfect break from the stress of the workday. Those commutes to and from the Garden of Eden have been paying off of late.
All in all, the walk wasn't as much as I'd hoped for as the "cut" isn't very long, but the moment was perfect as I hung up high in a local coulee. Only a few vehicles drove past me too; things that are in your favor when you take a moment out of one's day in Mindoro, Wisconsin!

Cutting that out of stone with basic tools was some feat. I love the graffiti cut into the stone.
Yeah very old school! I can imagine what the kids did to climb up there back in the day just to rub in a few names.
I bet there's some fascinating inscriptions, alongside the inevitable expletives.

The graffiti on the stones looks cool. At first, I thought that the place is in the Philippines since we also have Mindoro City. It's nice knowing that there are places that named the same as ours.
