Habits And Increased Productivity

Habits are actions or things we do often and they are of different kinds. Some habits are so good that I learned from a very young age and these habits are still a part of me.

Healthy eating is one habit make sure I still practice. The hike in the price of foodstuffs sometimes poses as a disadvantage but I always make sure I still keep eating healthy foods.

But some habits sometimes turn out to be bad that when not corrected on time will turn out to be a problem.

Bad habits decrease productivity. One of the bad habits I had was putting off tough tasks and always taking the easy one first which doesn't help me well in terms of productivity.

Sometimes the saying "easy to complex", doesn't always work in all areas. I used to do this initially but I found out it doesn't work for me because after doing the easy tasks, doing the tough ones seems a bit difficult for me to do. Sometimes I put them off and find myself having more work than I planned for.

So I turned it all around and made sure I tackled the tough tasks first before taking the easy ones and it has really been proving positive and also increased my productivity.

Another bad habit I had to put a stop to was the rate at which I spent time with my phone. There was a time when I would spend so much time on my phone that I took it everywhere. Of course, it's said to be a mobile phone but the rate at which I spend time on my phone was alarming.

Even when I cook, watch clothes, or do anything, I will be on my phone watching movies, oblivious to things around me. The other day I was washing clothes while also watching a movie on my phone. I placed my phone close to me and was washing.

It got to a point when I was so engrossed with the movie that I washed my hands, took my phone, and went back inside, leaving my clothes for more than 50 minutes(a time I could have used to complete my washing) and was focused on the movie I was watching. Afterwards, I resumed washing which also took lots of time to finish.

When I discovered washing clothes and watching movies at the same time was not helping, I decided multitasking in that aspect was not working out for me so I decided to do one thing at a time. Another thing I did that helped was listening to music while keeping my phone away. That way I wouldn't have to fiddle with my phone, all I needed was to make a playlist of songs I would be listening to at the time, and with my earpods, I could wash and also listen to my favorite songs.

Working on these habits has helped to increase productivity and also helped me more in less time. So I think we should identify the bad habits and devise a means for them to work out for us.

Thank you all for reading.

Hmmm washing clothes and watching movies at the same time, I was afraid your phone would fall into the water, thank goodness it didn't. Glad you are working to stop that habit.

Eating well can not be negotiable, though there are costs but if we don't eat healthily we could fall sick and that will mean spending more money.

Be honest! How many time have you burnt your food because of phone? 😉 Phones can be very addictive. I'm glad you know it's a bad habit that needs to be worked on and you are a work in progress. I also am addicted to my phone but each time I have something important to do like watch and clean, I keep the phone aside and finish with whatever needs do be done before I pick it up again.

Ah... habits. A complex topic. It takes around 21 days for a habit to form.
I have a habit of delaying tasks I dislike. Rather than tackling them first and moving on, I prefer to focus on activities I enjoy. Consequently, I often procrastinate.
