Bodily Maps of Musical Sensations Reveal That Music is Universal | Rising Star Giveaway - Reward 15000 Starbits (Ends 12 February UTC)

Almost every paper about music claims that music is universal, in fact, many people who love music also claim that music is universal, so is this really true scientifically?

A study conducted in Finland examined how the emotional and structural aspects of music affect bodily sensations and whether these sensations are consistent across cultures. The study suggests that despite cultural differences, our bodies and minds respond similarly to music.

Source

The researchers drew a bodily map of musical sensations cross-cultural based on the participants' responses. The bodily map clearly shows that people in different cultures respond to the same music in similar ways. Like all music lovers, I believe that music is universal because even if I do not know the language of a song, I can feel the lyrics of the song. Even though I believe that music is universal, there are not many comprehensive studies supporting that music is universal, so I like to see such scientific studies. I recommend you take a look at the entire study, it is truly comprehensive and quite an amazing study. Click to view the entire study.

Music is inherently connected to the body. Movement and emotions are somehow linked to music, and music is inextricably linked to people. That's why I have no doubt that music is a universal language. Some people may be prejudiced due to its genre, but I think our bodies and minds will react similarly to music when we listen to it without prejudice. The research above already clearly reveals this.

I have no prejudices about music and I listen to all genres of music that sounds good to my ears and according to my mood at that moment, and I believe that there is a universal language in music.

Question of the Day : Do you think music is universal? So why?

ign @olaf.gui

Music is mostly universal. The only thing that can be lost is the lyrics due to language and/or cultural differences. Other than that, I think it's universal.

Congratulations @jfang003! Count me in for another round, please! Thank you so very much!

Yes, I absolutely believe that music is universal, because it's based on frequency, and frequency is universal, and not even just to humans. Music affects other living organisms just as much as it does humans. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

@henruc
Music has the power to evoke emotions and feelings that are universally understood. Joy, sadness, love, and excitement can be communicated through melodies, rhythms, and harmonies, connecting people across cultures and languages.

I do think it's universal. Even if you don't know the lyrics, you can just kind of tell how good the track is.

Thanks
