The four-year American Presidential cycle and stocks
Because of the four-year American Presidential cycle, most Presidents do the difficult stuff in their first two years, and then do their best to engineer a boom in the second half of their term, to get re-elected. Here's the graph:
This is not completely foolproof: it didn't work for Jimmy Carter who had a Federal Reserve chairman (Paul Volcker) who was determined to crush inflation even if it meant a deep recession.
Is Jay Powell a Volcker type figure?
If you think he isn't (and let's face it, most Fed chairs haven't got Volcker's determination), then markets (including crypto) are about to turn upwards.
