POULTRY FARM:MY PEN HAS NEVER BEEN THIS ISOLATED FOR LONG.

I want to use this medium to greet all great Hivers. How has been your day so far, hope you are all doing good? I'm positive minded that it's all well and fine.

In the past couple of weeks, poultry farm business has been hell of a rollercoaster, such that the nitty gritty of the Poultry farming needs to be studied and considered before one takes a step to rear another batch. I have taken it upon myself that, before I bring in the next batch of Broiler birds for brooding, I want to take careful consideration that the marketing aspect of the business is guaranteed and settled. This is by making sure that I won't be having any issue putting them up for sales when they reach time to be harvested.

That's the point I am right now, after I renovated the pen in the past couple of days plus taking time to disinfect the pen which has opened the chance for me to bring in new day old birds but I put that to a purse to study the marketing aspect of the business so that in the next couple of weeks I won't be having any issue selling when the harvest time reaches. As I have mentioned in my previous posts that, one of the reasons why there's partial shift in the market of the business is down to the Idi-Iroko border that's opened which brought us back to the old scenerio where dressed chicken are being imported again which has slimmed down the sales of local made chicken production.

In fact, every other thing is set to kick start the 14th batch, part of which are, I have disinfected and washed their feeding trays, drinkers, bigger drinkers and feeders. I will take the step to bring in new birds after I must have settled the marketing aspect, meaning having trustworthy agreement with one or two of my customers to make them aware of the time frame the birds would be ready for them to buy.

Finally, I just want to advice any potential poultry farmers reading this or you are already in the business that there's no need to feel discouraged due to the mayhem happening right now to poultry farm business. There are ways to adjust, part of which by means of reducing the number of Birds you are rearing. Like I am planning to do. Normally, I rear 150 birds for each batch but I am planning to reduce the number to 100 birds hopefully pending the time that marketing aspect comes back to normalcy.
