X-Strategy Chronicles: Journey to Monetization | Week 03

(Edited)

I know for a certainty now that, truly, everyday really isn't Christmas. What may have brought about this unsurprising realisation, you may ask, is the fact that my performance this week was way unlike the previous weeks. Nonetheless, we'll keep observing the ebb and flow for the way forward. That's why we are doing this—the weekly reports.

In the previous week's report, I realised that I was declining with my stats, and so I thought to make certain changes that would Well, apparently, I didn't do very well with that and then kept on with the old ways. It's no surprise that the decline persisted.

Being on X with a premium subscription has been an exhilarating experience so far. I have learned a lot more about it in recent times, too. I started strong, and it was mostly because the whole concept of gaining and growing with impressions and other factors felt exciting. It's a bit less than what I started with—the energy, I mean—but it's part of the experience.

Previously, I used to wonder how people spend so much time on X, even claiming that "whoever's not on it is missing out on the entire world." Now, the narrative's different for me. I wouldn't say that anyone's missing out on the entire world—as there are a lot more things of higher significance to other people—but I get the idea now.

I am not much of a current guy. That is, getting information about what's up around me is usually done by the people around me. Ever since I started to visit the platform more, I was usually aware of what's going on right away. For example, government workers went on strike. Three days later, they called it off. I learned about it instantly by checking my feed regularly.

I am not on X to discover alone, however. I started this journey to monetization on X a few weeks ago for no specific reason other than to explore. The first is to be an influencer for Hive on web2 platforms like X to promote our ecosystem and possibly have more people onboard somehow. The second is to get monetized on Hive, and that requires that I grow my account. The former would be more effective if the latter was achieved to a certain degree.

There are two ways to be monetized on X. One can either do so with "subscriptions" or "ad revenue sharing." Ad revenue sharing is the option I am focused on.

And to be eligible, I need to meet certain requirements:

  • Subscribe to Premium.
  • Have at least 5M impressions on my posts within the last 3 months.
  • Have at least 500 followers.

The X Premium is bagged, of course—although that was so much of a challenge to do. It was difficult to pay for it, but I eventually found away. Getting the impressions and followers turns out to be where the work lies.

I went down from something around 1M impressions in a week to 619K impressions last week. It wasn't all that bad, except for the fact that there was so much red around, but it was all fine since I was still within my "range of accepted performance."

Making 5M impressions in three months means that I have to gain as much as over 400K every week to meet up. That is my range of accepted performance. That way, I know that I am on track. And thanks to these weekly reports, I get to take an introspective look at my performance every week and evaluate ways to do better by observing my stats.

It appears, however, that I have fallen short this week. My impressions from the previous week were slashed into two, and I fell into the three hundreds this time. It's all good, however. It only tells me that I have to put in more effort and seek ways to improve performance.

image.png

On the bright side, it appears that I have been able to reach 38% of the 5M impressions in the last 28 days. It is 5% more than what I need, and that is a good thing. It's not a reason to relent, however. I still have to press on and keep growing.

Whilst trying to grow, however, I have to be careful. It's web2 that we are talking about here: that centralised that we have zero percent of on Hive exists there, and I can have my account altered at anytime. Getting shadow-banned is something that no one would want for themselves.

Getting shadow-banned simply implies that one would have their visibility suppressed, and that's a really challenging thing to deal with. I check through this site to ensure that I am still safe. I am, thankfully.

This week has been alright, to say the least. Maybe it's not what I wanted, but it's progress. The ebb and flow are all part of the experience. I hope to do much better in the coming week.

I was wondering why you got a checkmark on twitter and this post explains it. I believe with time you'll get those 5m impressions and who knows you could be a big influencer in the future. Goodluck bro. Bookmarked so I can learn some things. Just incase I eventually want to tow a similar path one day

Yes, bro. This is exactly why I got it. I'm part of a team under InLeo, and our general purpose is to promote Hive and InLeo on X as much as we can. I am trying to leverage the opportunity and build a profile for myself alongside.

It is, actually. There are now so many web of things coming together, making all the more complex. With time, one learns and adapts.

Dude. I thought it was just me. I noticed a decline and something tells me it’s more than just gaining impressions. I’ve been observing certain accounts and asking questions. I’ll share with you in the DMs. Overall, you’re doing amazingly well. Unlike Moi! Note. That shadow ban doesn’t actually work. There are about 30 types of X shadow ban and that website only works for about 4 of them. Need to find a way to do an advanced check 👀

Person just gats dey really careful for this X. There's a lot to learn about how they operate and how to act accordingly to make sure that things are running smoothly. We go still continue this convo about shadowbanning.
