Gatton, Lake Apex and Freeman Parklands in the Lockyer Valley.

The valley is considered prime farming country and supplies lots of produce to the Brisbane and other markets.

It was part of the old Cobb and Co Stage Coach Trail before trains and trucks really opened up the area.

There has been a lot of recent rain and it was hard to tell where the grass ended and the water started. The ducks are in the lake surrounded by a lot of weed/algae.

The Lake used to be call Cleary’s Swamp but was developed in 1975 and transformed into Lake Apex and Freeman Parkland.

A humid 16 degrees (Celsius), with next to no wind, made for a really nice morning.

I tried to get the sunrise to complement the Lights on the Hill Memorial.

There was a lot of different birdlife on the lake but I could not get close enough with my phone camera to get any decent photos.

This shows the old style railway crossing gates in the foreground, train station behind it and an old church in the background. I think they have moved it all to keep it as part of the Museum.

The 5km course was 2 big laps and then a tight lap around the lake to finish. This was a photograph of the parkrun event team’s first timer’s briefing course map.

And that's it from the Lockyer Valley for now. We really enjoyed our visit and hope to revisit some day when we have more time. Now it's time to dream up the next adventure ;)
