Annoying days can happen

(Edited)

Some days can be a true test of one’s strength and good countenance. Often the test comes because of other people’s behaviour. It is usually due to poor communication or the need to be right or to prove a point. When this happens, one might wonder why things need to be this way and we wish people could change. However, we all know by now that we cannot change others. People will be themselves and actually they need to be themselves. It is part of being human.

We (the victims) are human too and have feelings which we want to express. However,

  1. Sometimes we are at a loss for words (flabbergasted) and don't know what to say at that moment.
  2. Other times, we feel driven to have our say because it feels like the right thing to do; or
  3. We restrain ourselves and say nothing because we are afraid of repercussions.

We should follow our gut instincts. It is a good guide most often.

We know that we are in charge of ourselves and are only in control of our own behaviours. What matters is how we react to any given situation, since we are in control of that too. As adults, we will also know when it is better to take a step back - to evaluate and think - especially when we become upset.

Nowadays, we are affected not only by occurrences in our offline life but also by our online interactions. Assessing upsetting situations before acting/reacting or responding is sound judgement - irrespective of the medium. If we can leave the situation by walking away or closing our computers - that could be a good decision.

On such days - we need to break the momentum of whatever is happening.

  • Take a breather literally. Take deep breaths - repeat several times
  • Go for a walk - a change of scenery will do a lot of good
  • Think of nice things - whatever makes you happy or laugh
  • Call or text someone who knows you well - a loved one or good friend can help with different point of view
  • Journal or blog about it - there is also a rant and complain community here on Hive 😀
  • Enjoy your favourite drink - just the way you like it and in your favourite cup
  • Listen to your favourite music - do not forget to sing and/or get up and dance
  • Go to the gym - doing exercise increases happiness hormones
  • Think of something to be grateful about - that will certainly change your mindset and perspective

Remember nothing lasts forever.

It is very normal to have days that are not the best. Although they are annoying - it is just a part of life. There are always lessons to be learnt from these days. It might not seem like it at the time though. As they saying goes -

You're absolutely right. Dealing with challenging situations and people can be a true test of our patience and emotional intelligence. It's a part of human interaction that we all encounter from time to time. While we can't control the actions or behaviors of others, we do have control over our own reactions and responses.

Absolutely - it can be a true test. I wrote this post because I observed that more and more we are tested. Now it is online and also offline. However it does not matter how it comes about we have to deal with it.

There will definitely be ugly days and we can not be too careful with our interactions with people. We are from different backgrounds and cultures so it's impossible to expect everyone to reason or react like we do.

Sometimes, it's best to walk away as you have said because I have learned that a lot of things that happen don't deserve our response.

People's behaviour can be unpredictable and changeable based on the criteria you listed and others. We are now a truly global community hence we need to figure and learn how to communicate respectfully irrespective of cultural differences etc. However, I agree and it is universal we need to know when to walk away.

So true - the more we experience adversity - the better we are able to handle whatever comes.

Exactly momo.. unfortunately some people do get carried away by emotions

Sometimes, we get can an unusual day.. lots of things to make us sad both online and offline and just like you said momo, shutting down your system or walking away can help knowing that human beings have different characters and understanding about life.. i think is one of the good way to deal with such situation

There is no human being who will not face challenges so we should be prepared and it is mostly for the betterment of our lives
Challenges are normal but how to scale through is more important
Nice write up!

It is absolutely true that when a bad time comes upon a person, the way we see that the people who are living with us also leave us and the person has to spend this time alone and when the person at that time If he spends, he works hard, he is not worried, then he is successful, all these views are looking very beautiful.

seeing we can't do without offense
A verse I try to remind myself of daily.
Also my definition of TRUST has helped me alot, rather than trust people not to hurt or be disappointing, I TRUST them to do exactly that, this way I'm able to forgive and move past that because I already saw it coming and forgave long before the pain.
We have different ways of dealing with pain, Hurt etc.
You very well stated it all brilliantly, which I agree and will practice going forward.

Those clicks are beautiful😍 In Architecture we can refer to that as a healing environment❤️
