Weekend Diary - Purchased Frozen Chicken For My Chicken Sauce Recipe

avatar

Guys, happy new week! I hope you had a great weekend. Today I'll tell you all about how I spent my last weekend.

I awoke quite early, much earlier than my usual 5 a.m., and I was even awake before my mother. I did my silent prayer as usual, but because there was no light, I went straight to the window and opened the curtains. Because it wasn't quite morning, the sky was still a little dark.

I went straight to the bathroom to pee and wash my face before brushing my teeth with my tooth brush. I returned to the living room and greeted my mother, who was taken aback because this was the first time I had risen earlier than her. She smiled as she congratulated me. "Are you not going to shop" I asked her and "No, I want to rest and prepare for church" she responded. "Okay resting is a great idea" I added.

I was still walking around the sitting room when I heard a loud alarm indicating that power had been restored. I dashed to the kitchen to boil water for my morning bath since the power had been unstable I decided to boil the water very quickly.

After a few minutes, I had a bath and changed into some casual clothes. My mother then inquired about my breakfast preferences. I told her I was carving for chicken sauce rice. Chicken is very pricey in Nigeria. My mother, on the other hand, will always make sure I get what I want. Around 9:23 a.m., she handed me her ATM card, instructing me to go to the bank and withdraw some cash before heading to a frozen food store to purchase the chicken.

I took the ATM and headed to Zenith bank, today being weekend a lot of people are already on the queue ready to withdraw some cash. The queue was very long so I have to wait for my turn.

Since only one machine was dispensing, I had to wait more than 11/2 hours for my turn, so after withdrawing the money, I walked straight to Lady B frozen foods store to purchase the chicken. This is one of the busiest frozen store in my area.

The chicken and some other components cost around N10,050 in my local currency (Naira), which is roughly $20 and 21 Hive at the current Hive price.

I boarded a bike home because I'd spent too much time waiting to withdraw cash from the ATM gallery. I arrived home to find my mother waiting for me outside, concerned. I explained everything to her, she sighed softly, and we went inside.

The Frozen Chicken

The Chicken Sauce Preparation

I started cooking straight away, aiming to make the chicken sauce and serve it with rice, but because we didn't have much gas, I'm only interested in making the chicken sauce and will wait till the gas is refilled to make the rice because the electricity isn't consistent.

The Ingredients

  • The Chicken

  • Red pepper, Tomatoes and Onions

  • Tomato (paste)

  • Vegetable Oil

  • Jollof and Chicken spicy

  • Maggi and Salt

Step 1: I removed the chicken and washed it before seasoning it and letting it cook for a few minutes. Then I removed the Pepper and washed it as well.

Step 2: After washing and rinsing the pepper, I chopped the onions and placed them in the blender with the pepper, blending at high speed.

Step 3: Then I put the sauce pan on a low medium heat for a minute to pre-heat it, then add the vegetable oil and warm it again. Fry for a minute with the cut onions before adding the chicken and cooking until golden brown.

Step 4: To make the blended Pepper, combine the tomato paste, jollof and chicken spicy, and cook until all the water has evaporated.

Step 5: Allow the boiling pepper to cook in the residual vegetable oil used to sauté the chicken, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Simmer for 3 minutes, then add the chicken and a little water, and cook for another 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and serve with anything you like: rice, yam, or even a soft drink.😋

I couldn't make white rice, so I went to the shop and bought bread to eat with the chicken sauce.

For the past few days, power supply has been a major concern in my region.

These are looking so yummy and delicious 😋, the sight along dug out hunger in me.
You've done a great job dear, keep up the good work.

I use to think you're a Muslim base on your name Mistura, but hearing that your mom is trying to prepare for church change my mindset base. (No offences to both religion, am just saying).

Have a pleasant night rest.
