My journey as an entrepreneur

My name is Oloyede Mary Funke, I'm 22 years old, and a graduate of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti. I am a writer and entrepreneur and I've always been enthusiastic about business, finances, and making money.

This is my first post in leo finance and I'm enthusiastic because I know I will be learning and growing from this community, ranging from managing my resources, crypto, and stocks, to building wealth, investment, and accumulation of assets.

My journey as a business-oriented girl started when I was at the 200 Level at university. I started by selling groundnuts in my hostel. I learnt how to make it from my mum and watched YouTube videos to gain more knowledge and do it differently.

I made them from home after the second-semester exam in 100 Level and took them to school. Due to how delicious and crispy it tasted, within two weeks I ran out of the groundnut. I have added sugar as well for those who do not buy provisions from home.

So after selling out all the groundnut, I had more money, so I went to the market to get groundnut because school activities will not allow me have much time to bake groundnut, I decided to start buying and reselling, it was not hard for me to get a vendor, so I got two different vendors for my groundnut and sugar business

After two weeks, I added an extra ten thousand to my business. I added eggs, noodles, biscuits, chin-chin, milk, and milk to the business. I started making more money from my business and after a while, I got myself an Android phone after the one I was using got spoiled in 100 Level.

In my 300 Level at the beginning of the semester, I took the biggest risk of my life, I got the idea to start selling 10 1 notebooks and dissecting sets for science practical students in 100 Level. I did not have the money to start the business, so after my parents had given me my school fees and hostel fee, I bought packs of hardcover notebooks and a pack of biro, and 30 pieces of the dissecting set. Everything cost about fifty thousand naira.

I took them to school and I started selling, going from one hostel to another to sell my book, it was top quality and the same price as the one they are selling in school, and because it is a necessity, students were willing to buy. My dissecting set did not sell out fast, at some point I was worried, but I started going 100 Level lecture halls, standing on their podium to advertise

There was a high demand a week before their first biology practical because they won't be allowed into the laboratory without having one, so I sold everything out and made my cool profit.

I paid my school fees and was using my profit. In my 400 level, I delve into cryptocurrency, it is very volatile and after making some money, I lost almost all the money I made from it. I was using binance and I started learning the rudiments of the app. Crypto is highly risky but life is filled with risks already. A coin can make you rich overnight. I can't forget the surge in the price of BNB coins and Shiba Inu.

My business and finance journey has been a period of learning, unlearning, and relearning for me. I've realized that life is filled with uncertainties and you just have to take the risk if you really want to get what you want from it. Especially as a business person, one will not stop taking risk.

Crypto is volatile and unpredictable

That week you sold off the dissecting set is a pointer that every business has its peak and bloom. You just have to grab the opportunity at the right time.
