The Wrong Impressions On Social Profiles - My View

At the time I created an account and started to use social media (2go), a whole lot of users used their own pictures and gave good enough details on their profile for anyone to get an intro before chatting them up. Social media was easy for users but gradually, it gets too high attention and people are becoming quite very creative with it.

Nowadays, there is little or no information about users even when you visit their profiles or follow up a few of their contents but it's quite understandable why it is like that now, the insecurities and being reserved or private.

As a long time social media user, I'll love to share my view on "Should people be judged by their social media profiles?"

My first answer on an impulse is, NO!, no one should be judged by anyone based on whatever they choose to do for themselves, there are exceptions but for social profiles, obvious reasons why it shouldn't be so.

If you look at my profile on the social media I'm in, there is not so much to know about me but many who have drawn closer would always make the remark that they had expected less or more before they came to my dm. It was obvious they judged but still went ahead to confirm what they think is true or not.

A lot of my friends were made online, there are the reals among the fakes on social media and that is even a more reason judgement shouldn't come from people as we do not know who is real and who isn't. To some extent, I don't blame the public for judging and misinterpreting social profiles, these profiles give reasons for them to be that way.

How can one choose to share literally everything about them on social media? And why do some share nothing about them when they are not planning to go anonymous? These situations give the public to judge wrongly and a few times, rightly.

While it isn't right for the public to judge by profiles, it is also important that users of these social accounts be mindful of whatever they decide to be their contents as these play a big role in how people see them or the impression they give.

A few times, I've also fall into the category of judging people by the profile I see but I learnt better. It goes the other way for me too but I tend not to let it get to me if I am being misjudged, haven't had any severe scenario though.

Social platforms are for our fun, connection and to build our finances, let's go back to the time when we appreciate these about social media instead of dwelling on the superficial or fake side of it. Don't judge and don't be judged, staying real to oneself both online and offline is an easy way out.

What do you think about the topic? I hope I succeeded in sharing my view and the point is taken.

People don't feel safe no more to share thier profile with the world, some even give wrong details about themselves on thier profile, overhauling themselves of titles they have not even seen before, universities they have not even been before. Na only God know who is who

Lol that's the truth, so no need to judge anyone until it's confirmed.

Nice thought 👍
I do agree with you on this
Judging people base on their social media profile is like judging the book by its cover. Social media is where people showcase different kinds of behavior, beliefs, fun etc and that doesn't mean they are what they showcase on their profile.

It's one of the reason many use social media, they could hide their real self behind it.

For some of us we’re torn in between sharing our daily lives and remaining anonymous
Even though someone might be sharing their daily life but the average person who doesn’t have what the person has might think it’s show off
These and many more are the reasons we don’t see much on people’s profiles these days
