A Minimalist Like No Other - Inspired By An Inspiration

I don't know about others but in my part of the country I live in, there was hardly one who practiced Minimalism while I was growing up. I could bet that my ignorance of this practice contributed to learning the practice late and quite slowly gradually but after learning about minimalism to an extent, I have come to realize that I've had it in me for as long as I can remember but yet to let it out.

I can't stand tight spaces for too long without thinking of ways to get any stuff I no longer use out of my space. I tend to go for comfort first before beauty, I can't be looking all beautiful and not feel comfortable in a beauty wear... If these don't have some minimalist touch then, I don't know what it is.

Minimalism or no minimalism, we are all different and we think differently. We find different things appealing to us and this also happens with Minimalists. I am one like no other but there are definitely a few things I do that many minimalists do and vice versa.

How did I come to accept a Minimalist lifestyle when I had never led one growing up?

I found an inspiration some years back that has left a great impression in me to pursue Minimalism. For the fact that I had not seen anyone practice "Simplicity in everything" while growing up made it very obvious for me when I lived with her for sometime.

And guess what?! She's my mum! A woman of simplicity.

To be honest, at first I thought she was over doing the whole thing as I had come from a home that didn't care much about quality or having too few spaces. I didn't grow with mum if not, maybe I'd have learnt much earlier from her lifestyle. I was still very little when she left and I finally got to be with her some years back when I noticed so much difference in the way she live her life.

No matter how little her home is, my mum would always make better use of the space she has. She would make sure to take out whatever she doesn't need, mostly gave it out to who may need it. Even down to her jewelleries, mum wouldn't keep it in her bag if she knows she no longer wears it.

Her current room is not so big but she finds space where there is none and I find that really admirable.

Tell you one funny thing about my Minimalism inspiration (mum), she has one small sofa chair in her home but after a part of it got broken inside, she has been looking for ways to throw it out or get it repaired but believe me when I say she's more interested in throwing it out than having it repaired, why? She says it's too big for her room, she would appreciate more space 😂

While this is funny to me because I know she spend some cool cash to get that chair, I find it amazing that she appreciates her space more than the money she has spent on it.

Her style of buying just what she needs and putting quality in mind before the quantity, all that, I've learned and find more reasons to want to pursue her kind of life. The sweet part is that, this lifestyle seem to fit in well with a not so buoyant financial life.

With more finances, I bet my mum would only be unstoppable in her beautiful practice with more spaces to save lol. I want to be like her in this regard and that has been influencing me as expected.

Almost unconsciously, I can't let anything be in a space mum had created because I know she would give me an earful if she sees it. This habit has somehow build my mind to act accordingly when I'm alone in my room anywhere I may find myself.

Mum makes this practice look easy and honestly, it hasn't been easy for me but I don't plan to stop practicing until I'm good at keeping a lifestyle in it. Minimalism has a lot more advantages I'm yet to even comprehend and I want to have those experiences with time.

For now, I keep watching my inspiration (mum or any other who practices it) to stay inspired and grow a life in the minimalistic world. What do you think about having an inspiration to practice Minimalism?
