Visiting the Rhombus brewery for a very special event… Let’s “Eat your meatballs”!

Yes, that was the bame of the event and it was really about eating meatballs! And although the brewery is almost 2 hours drive away from my hometown, we decided to go with the kids and have a lunch at the place… and of course have a beer or two!

I know the place since its grand opening, ehich was about 6 years ago, and believe me, there was almost nothing except for beer brewing equipment and bare concrete floors. The yard was uneven and dusty, but now… now everything has changed.

The greenery is everywhere, there are chickens in one of the corners that produce eggs for the restaurant that was launched two years ago, they also have registered butchery and homemade style sausages and appetizers. It’s great to see how a family has closed so many processes in the food and beverage industry.

But now, we are here for the beers and meatballs!

I strted with a light pale ale… I wanted to refresh a bit from the 2 hour drive and that is the best way to achieve it. For the drivers and the young fellas therr is homemade lemonade, which is also great tasting. Well… it wasn’t up to the taste of our younger boy, but my wife gladly finished his lemonade.

It was quite fast, after we ordered our forst meatballs until the moment they arrived on our table. We decided to try horse meatballs. My wife was a bit conservative about these, but I knew that I was gonna like them. They were a bit dry, after all this is horse’s meat and it is this way, but they were really delicious. Our kids liked them too! One thing that they didn’t like was the potatoes. They didn’t want them to be boiled. The request was for fried french style. Okay then…That’s a bit better! These were delicious and had some special spice over them. They arrived with a bit of mayonnaise, which was a nice little touch to the whole taste.

The second order was for beef meatballs. They were quite a bit different, more juicy and very tasty as well. The taste was again amazing, and we were happy to choose them. We really thought whether we wanted to order and try some pork meatballs, but after all the kids were already full and didn’t want more. The wise decision was to stop here.

I forgot to mention that for a side dish we ordered a green salad with lettuce, peccorino cheese, walnuts and strawberries. You will never guess who ate the strawberries! The two little beasts don’t like lettuce at all, but give them strwberries and just watch them. They don’t calm down until no strawberry is left.

For a second beer I grabbed an IPA, but firgot to take a photo of it. I find myself do this quite often aside the kids’ duties and responsibilities.

I have to say that both the beers were good, but I really expected a little bit more. I think in the past years the beers were a lot better. Anyway, the meatballs were heavily delicious and I was happy that we decided to visit the Rhombus brewery. The children were quite happy with the meatballs and french fries too!

Thats for today. See you soon and have a wonderful sunday!
Cheers!

You even had one of the "dangerous" salads with the meat and the beer.

;-)

Seems you had a nice weekend.

Dangerous? I mean… In Bulgaria it is dangerous because it requires some Rakia or Vodka… 🤣
I am not sure how it is dangerous in Germany!
Cheers!
