Rivers, mountains and great food || 2 days road trip to Konitsa, GR

I currently live with my gf @illusivelf at a seaside town called Preveza located at western Greece and temperature is so high during summer months, +35° C every single day...! We have some beautiful beaches nearby but sea is so warm it just can't chill us so we decided to go on a 2 days road trip to a mountain village called Konitsa,GR and catch a breath of fresh air!

Konitsa is only a 2 and a half hours drive from Preveza so it was the perfect destination! Really close, great food, beautiful places to visit and also the place I grew up so it was a good chance to visit my family!

We arrived at Konitsa late Wednesday afternoon, unloaded the car, catched up with my family and spent the last couple hours of our Wednesday night drinking a few cold ones at Konitsa bridge. Bridge was built at 1870 and the river crossing bellow it is called "Aoos".

Next day we spent our morning chilling at the balkony and enjoying the mountain view while drinking our coffee! After that we drived to "Klidonia" village so we can eat launch at a restaurant called "Voidomatis", famous around the area for it's fresh grilled trout!

"Voidomatis" restaurant took it's name from the river crossing right next to it called... "Voidomatis" so you can pretty much guess the view was dope! We fed some feathered friends, watched rafting boats coming down the river, enjoyed the cold breeze and I swear the god this was the best trout I've had in my entire life!

After this EPIC meal we visited "Klidonia" bridge and spent our afternoon connecting with nature and trying to swim in the river! @Illusivelf did manage to stay in "Voidomatis" river for over 10 minutes, I couldn't last even 30 seconds haha! "Voidomatis" is one of the coldest rivers in Europe with a stable temperature of 4° C all year round!!!

There is also a 6km take you can walk that leads to "Aristi" village but we weren't prepared for this so we passed!

It was starting to get late so we drove back to Konitsa, spent the night chatting at the balcony and went to sleep early so we can wake up early the next day and hike to the famous "Stomio Monastery"!

We woke up around 7:30, ate breakfast, drived to Konitsa bridge and followed the 6km trail to the monastery! Took us around 1 and a half hours to get there, trail was mostly shady and had some HUGE uphills! If you're planning to hike this one it's fairly easy, backpack light, wear an athletic shoe and you're good to go!

Not gonna share any more footage from "Stomio Monastary" cause I filmed a whole vlog about this adventure, should be dropping tomorrow so stay tuned! All I'm gonna say is that it was an amazing experience and the view of "Aoos Gorge" from "Stomio" monastery was unreal!

After we rested for half an hour we followed the trail to "Konitsa" and did a couple swim stops at some gorgeous spots we found on our way back! Aoos river is so crazy beautiful and has so many "secret" spots to swim if you feel like exploring!

After our swim we returned home, took a nap, loaded the car and hit the road back to Preveza,GR! It might have been a super quick 2 days road trip but it was definitely enough to clear my mind, heal my body and make me wanna explore more and more places around Greece and Epirous region!

Damn dude this place looks dope! I think you should’ve stayed in the river for a while longer to bring your body temp back down before your drive back home hahaha. I love cold water like that though, it’s so refreshing! I love the look of it too, it looks so incredibly clean which is awesome! Glad you got some time away dude, I love those types of trips. You don’t have to go far to really see some beauty!

Man my ankles are so swollen from dozens of sprains they just hurt like hell in freezing cold water! Temp is 4c in voidomatis river, so freaking cold I just couldn't take it haha!

At least I swimmed for hours in Aoos river, temperature is around 12 in Aoos, not too cold but cold enough to help my body relax and heal!

Yeap, so many cool places near us but sometimes we forget it and think we have to travel for hours/days to go somewhere beautiful! Rivers are the best!

View was awesome and same for the water! Voidomatis was freezing cold but Aoos always has that perfect chilly temperature people are looking for during summer!
