There is just 'something' about Sundays.

Monday hasn't been the most likable day for a lot of people across different age brackets and across different stages of life. When I was in school, I enjoyed being a student and I don't feel grumpy about going to school, but whenever I wake up on a Monday morning, I usually feel less enthusiastic about getting into the academic adventure for that week. This is obviously different for days like Fridays and I'm sure you can imagine why that's the case.

The same thing applies to the moment I graduated from school and started working in a Bank. Bank work felt like a dream job, especially for someone like myself who studied Banking and Finance. Lo and behold, Monday still made me feel like shit and the feeling was actually more depressing than what I felt about Mondays during my days as a student.

Back then, I often counted down to the coming of a weekend because that's when I had to deal with minimal office work. I left the banking sector afterward and I'm now in an industry where I can basically work every day of the week or stay away from work all day of the week. I don't particularly answer to anyone and I can manage my schedule however I want.

Finding myself in that position completely changed my perception of the days of the week. I genuinely don't see a lot of difference between Mondays and any other day of the week. Everything can easily be what I want it to be and it's interesting because I now spend an insane amount of hours doing the work I do daily. Yet, I enjoy jumping into work each day, without being asked to do so.

So, do I even have a favorite day of the week?

While every day is pretty much the same, Sunday is usually that day of the week that feels too different from the rest. Seriously, there is something about Sunday that makes me feel guilty if I spend too many hours working. Haha. A lot of that has to do with the way we religiously view Sunday as the day of rest in my part of the world.

I don't usually sit back to pick up my phone and casually call people to check up on them. However, if I'm ever going to do that, it will likely be on a Sunday evening. It's also the day I try to relax my mind as much as possible and it's even better when there is an interesting football fixture scheduled to hold that day.

We love our Sundays in this part of the world and it's like an unwritten rule to always cook rice on a Sunday. I remember during my childhood... I always felt like we are poor if Mum decides that we are not cooking rice on a Sunday. Haha. Now that I'm an adult living alone, I genuinely can't remember the last time I cooked rice on a Sunday. Haha.

I like everything about Sundays.

You put together so well, the feelings about Mondays. I may enjoy school and work but feel really unenthusiastic about that day. Really true.

Meanwhile, I guess I am the only one who isn't hyped up about Sundays. I realized that for a while now, I've not been okay with it. The mornings especially.

Lol... Monday is just like that. It soaks people with a feeling of unenthusiasm.

As for feeling towards Sundays, that's a very rare feeling to have. Haha. Mine is completely different. I'm always hyped up about Sundays

Haha
It must have been funny to think you were poor anytime your mom decided that no rice on Sunday
Now that you don’t cook rice yourself I hope you don’t feel poor o😂

It’s hard for me to believe that you actually rest on Sunday because of the football you added
I know how men are when watching football

Lol... It's always very intense, especially for someone like myself who enjoys watching the game at viewing centers where I will be in the midst of other guys.

The one about cooking rice on Sundays is something I've suddenly outgrown. Lol. Maybe it's because I'm now living alone. It's funny because tomorrow is Easter and I don't even think I will be cooking anything at home. Haha. God help my soul

I like to think of Monday as the beginning of a week of promise. It's something I heard a colleague say once and it has stuck with me since.

I like that. My view of Monday has really become more inspiring ever since I started doing my own thing. I know it will get so much better as time goes on.

Ah! , You had to bring in the football fixtures..typical naija guy.

Sundays are the best just like you said, an unspoken rule exists that tells you to do less work. Plus rice on every variety tastes extra special on a Sunday.

Haha... Becky. It's the football fixtures for me oooo. I have two game to watch today, by 2pm and 4:30pm.

So, I'm trying to get work done before that so I can calmly enjoy my game when the time comes. Haha.

We actually hate Monday because it cuts our weekend and rest short and it is also a very busy day for almost everyone
