The Lamentations of a Wannabe Supu.

You just don't get it, do you? I've been an inspector for over 35 years and I've been due for a promotion to Supu since 25 years ago. However, the higher-ups have been holding me back from getting a promotion until this very moment.

This isn't fair!

It has not been easy to watch all my colleagues and juniors outrank me in the Police Force. Take Slim Mike for an example... The young chap is already a Commissioner of Police. Josh on the other hand just got shortlisted for his third promotion in 3 years.

How many cases have any of them solved since they joined the Police Force? How many years of experience do they have in fieldwork?

Maybe I'm the one that's a mess!

While everyone was sucking up to the higher-ups, I was busy playing detective and getting stabbed by hoodlums and gangsters. I can't even afford to send my boy to med school. Very soon, I will be up for retirement without even wearing the mere rank of a Police Supu.

So much for being a diligent Police Officer!

Note: Supu stands for Superintendent

This is reality bro, the real heroes don't enjoy their hard work. It is the system, some people do the job while someone else enjoys the reward.

35years without promotion, that's ridiculous.

You are very correct and this has been a big deal in our Police Force. A lot of these people who do their work diligently are getting denied promotions.

Oh Lord. This was short but insanely impactful. I got to see into the life of this man and maybe understand that somethings require quick thinking and not hard work? Although, did he do the wrong thing for doing his job? Maybe those higher-ups just don't deserve their seats for not seeing his hard work? I am just wondering how people are looking at his story right now..

Things like this happens very often and whenever someone in his shoes gets 'punished' and ignored when his colleagues are getting promoted, it makes him question all the decisions he has been making in his attempt to do his job diligently.

Mr Supu. I was just laughing as I was reading through as you already know all the languages used by Nigerian police 🤣.

The hardworking ones are always the ones who don't get the reward of their labour. They carry out their work diligently at all times but instead, those who do little or no work keep on getting promoted to higher levels. Honestly, it's not fair.

Lol... Yes oooo. I know those terms and I actually find it funny whenever I see Policemen using these lines for their inside joke. Lol.

Hardwork should always be rewarded accordingly and that's why it's never pleasing to see situations where people get snubbed despite working really hard. Hehe.
