A Crown Of Many Stars [Poetry]

I may stand tall on a rocky hill
Among a number of appealing people
On whose heads are crowns
Of gold, silver, copper and bronze
Every crown flaunts a star or two or many
A testament of everyone's spunk and strength
After stages of trials through refining fire

My eyes behold a constellation on a silver crown
An attractive jewel amongst some
That shines brightly, almost blindly
I am not alone seeing through the eyes of others
Desire gives way to envy
As I push through the crowd on the rocky hill
My sight set on those constellation

My bronze crown lacks the lustre I yearn for
Yet to attain because time is no friend of mine
A bothersome element that sets the pace
For everyone on the rocky hill
The crown with a constellation runs paces ahead
But I want it above all
And at no cost

I wish to attain my pinnacle with a crown
Full of stars that draws the envy of many
But another with an iron crown and no stars
Hovers to snatch my bronze crown of one star
I duel to preserve what's mine
A dawning realisation that every crown is precious
Valuable and must be cherished

My eyes are still set upon the constellation
My lust is real and my longing overwhelming
But the price is steep and the sacrifice unattainable
Nothing of inestimable value is free
I polish my bronze crown, making the star glitter
My pride stands tall of my sacrifice.
