ChairWoman Meow, my communist kitty, recently decided that my wife's orchid hobby is too bourgeois, so she decided to conduct a non-violent protest directly on top of an orchid.

Daem 🐺 Alpha Male

     We'll come back to ChairWoman Meow in a minute, but for now I present to you folks Daem, the alpha male dog for 20+ kilometers along the highway in both directions. This dog is obviously not made of solely Cambodian street dog DNA, he's full of muscle, battle wounds, and wrinkles. Perhaps there is some pit bull or sharpei in this guy, but despite an intimidating appearance, this guy is the sweetest dog in the village, harmless to humans, cats, chickens and ducks.

     Daem doesn't come around often because we are vegans and he doesn't want anything to do with our food. However, when meat-eating guests use the meat kitchen, Daem makes his presence known immediately. This dog is legendary in the village for his solo expeditions to visit girlfriend dogs located in other communities. I have personally seen Daem on the highway 19 kilometers west of our house multiple times, just chilling with some other random dogs. He is an old dog, but running a 40km roundtrip on Cambodian blacktop in the midday heat is no problem for him, and any dog that challenges him along the way is immediately humiliated.

     In the above shot you can see two Southeast Asian ladies tag-teaming an Indian recipe they learned from me while discussing how complicated South Asian cuisine is. Nearly every Cambodian that's ever watched me cook has remarked at how many spices I use, how many steps there are, and how complicated my food is. Well, I guess it's true, but for me there is nothing better than South Asian flavors. I remain impressed though that Cambodians can prepare a tasty dish in minutes with only some soy sauce, garlic, and leafy greens.

📱 Newly Refurbished iPad Yo'

     Srey-Yuu has warmed up to her secondhand iPad Mini 6, and now uses it kind of like a phone because it has a SIM card and cellular capabilities. We can now communicate with her while she's on break at school, and she has more than earned her this major tech upgrade with her Hive efforts. I took the above photo with my phone for her to use in a post of her own, but I wanted to share it again here with you all to highlight her joy.

     And now here we land with ChairWoman Meow again, the kitty who refuses to give up on a vegan household. What we lack in cat food, we have in abundance safe outdoor spaces full of tasty grasshoppers, crickets, rats, snakes, lizards, moths, butterflies, and many other creatures. Meow has come to rely on this as her main food source despite living in a village full of bones and fish heads to snack on.

     In other news, Meow decided to sit on my wife's orchids that hang precariously by weak strings suspended 4 meters above the Earth. Normally I would've done something to prevent this, but I didn't want to make her accidentally fall, plus the sun was shining perfectly and the whole situation made for some great shots. Meow only set foot on the orchids this one time, almost as if just for a one-off photo session. She clearly has a better understanding of photography composition than I do.
