πŸ₯” Aloo Jeera With The Family πŸ«“ & My Warranty Replacement Mini PC Arrives From The USA πŸ“¦

ALOO.png

I've been waiting for my warranty replacement mini PC for a few months, and to celebrate it's arrival I made some aloo jeera and chapatis for lunch.

Simple But Tasty πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Β  Β  Β Aloo jeera with chapatis have long been a soul food of mine, the perfect dish for when I want to feel stuffed and take a nap after eating. The secret to this dish is to roast and grind the spices before use, and I'm very liberal with the ginger and sliced chilies.

My NUC Has Arrived πŸ–₯️

PACK.png

Β  Β  Β The timing was perfect, the school was closed for one day and two separate packages arrived for us at the local private shipping company. The missus and I rode the Super Cub over the mountain, grabbed our packages, came back home and made a hearty lunch to replenish lost motorcycling calories.

Β  Β  Β After eating, it was time to tear into the packages, and the highlight for me was my Intel NUC mini pc warranty replacement that has taken over two months to arrange and receive. I suspect the electric grid here destroyed it with the constant cuts, so now I have a UPS connected to a power strip, and hopefully this will prevent any damage to this one.

Β  Β  Β Also in the box was a package of nutritional yeast, our sort of natural and healthy MSG that makes almost every dish taste better. I also purchased some tire spoons because I need to flip the tuk-tuk tires due to its bowlegged stance, causing one side of the tire to wear uneven.

The NUC Is Here 🧊

Β  Β  Β Perhaps I'll soon share the other contents of our shipment in another post, but the highlight is my NUC. Now I get to give my daughter her laptop back, and this means she can give her borrowed iPad back to her mom, and now everybody has their main Hivin' device again.

Β  Β  Β ASEAN Hive has kind of been running on life support since my NUC died, but now I'll put my hard drives and RAM back in this barebones unit and hopefully be up and running again with no glitches along the way.

I'm also happy to read your post today, thank God your Intel Mini PC which was repaired under warranty in the USA for several months has arrived safely, and yes you deserve to celebrate with your beloved family @justinparke.

I don't know what Aloo Jeera food is made of, is it made from potatoes then sauteed with spices? But it looks so delicious

Have a nice day with your beloved family my friend πŸ™

It's a joy to have a pc again, my daughter was very upset I had to take her laptop to keep Hivin'. Luckily she had an old iPad so that she could keep doing her blog and studying online. You're right about aloo jeera, it's just spices and potatoes, the name literally translates to "potato cumin." It's an awesome breakfast dish and really good with rotis.

You must be so happy to receive your replacement PC. Wow to think that it travels all the way from USA.

Seems wasteful, but it was the only way to get it. Made in China, but was asked to seek warranty from replacement from Malaysia, too complicated, so I had to send my Chinese computer from Cambodia to the USA to be replaced by a new mini PC shipped from China to the USA and to me here in Cambodia.

With all the technology that exists in the world, you'd think we humans would've solved wasteful logistics like this by now.

That is fabulous news that the NUC arrived! I'm sure you are thrilled, but I imagine Srey-Yuu's joy surpasses yours at having her laptop back for her sole use again! πŸ˜…

I think you got that right, and happiest of all is my wife who gets her iPad back from Srey-Yuu.

Here we call them Alur Dum, yes they really taste great. But we especially like to eat it as an evening snack, although many eat it with rice as well.

I love aloo dum also, I shared a recipe for it long ago on Hive, I almost forgot. The recipe I shared wasn't very traditional because I used tempeh and avocado. I still love aloo jeera the most, so simple, but cumin seeds and potatoes belong together, so yummy.

πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ It is a very dry dish, so it's not great with rice, but rotis with aloo jeera is a wonderful meal.

Aaloo Jeera is my all-time favourite. When we are not sure what to cook, then this is the easiest option to cook. Thanks for sharing.

πŸ™ My family loves it, but they refuse to eat it with rice because it's a starch and dry dish. Because of this, I know if I make aloo jeera, I also have to make chapatis πŸ˜‹.

Yes true, it goes well with chapati, poori or parantha.
