🚙 30 Guests Won't Take No For An Answer 🤦‍♂️ & A PS2 Emulator For Srey-Yuu's Laptop 🎮

30 random guests arrived today without warning and wouldn't allow me to refuse them accommodation designed for only 4 to 6 people.

Emulators For Srey-Yuu 🎮

Usually I would skip posting if I didn't have a good collection of quality photos and some kind of a theme, but I'm gonna try and break my self-imposed posting rules today. When I was in the USA I bought the newest generation of XBox 360 controllers, and although we don't have a gaming system, they are bluetooth compatible.

With a little research online, I learned that PCSX2 is the most popular PS2 emulator. Srey-Yuu's laptop can handle running this emulator, so I downloaded all of the Harry Potter ISOs I could find for PS2 via Vimm's Lair, and it wasn't long before Srey-Yuu was getting a taste of the gaming world via a system and games I was never able to own in my teenage years. My gaming journey stopped when I sold my Dreamcast, at the time hooked on a game called Shenmue.

Rough Day For Srey-Yuu 😞

Srey-Yuu returned home from school today with a headache unfortunately, and what a bummer because she has a 6-day school week. Saturday night is her only night to have fun and be able to sleep in the following day, and I had set up the PS2 emulator on her laptop with this in mind. Sreypov and Monkey-B are out of town, so this whole thing was a dad-daughter bonding experience I had set up in my mind.

With her not feeling well, I decided to make her favorite soup f for dinner, coconut potato soup with pasta. Just when things were winding down for the evening and we'd nearly finished our chores, ready to eat soup and get into some gaming, a surprise random guy showed and demanded I allow 30 people to sleep in the cabin for one night. In case you didn't know, the cabin has one room, one bed, and a loft up above the porch with no beds there.

I wasn't pleased to allow them to stay here, but my wife is out of town and they were really aggressive. Even though I speak fluent Khmer, Cambodians are very sensitive, so it's really hard communicating with them because nothing can be said directly, you can't humiliate anyone, etc. For these reasons I am a pushover without my wife around, so here I am writing this post as I listen to screaming and shouting. There are tents scattered everywhere, one going up behind my bedroom without anyone asking if they could pitch tents here, so needless to say tomorrow morning will likely be a hot mess. To be continued......

Man, I hope nothing bad happen to your place and the party. 30 people for a place designated to hold 4 to 6 people is just too much.

A lot of cleaning and a little damage, definitely not worth the money they paid. I think I will need to put a "Maximum Occupancy 4-6 People" sign on the cabin for the future.

Shocked 30 people. 😲How can they rest? Immediately felt pity for the house.

Yes, the house took a beating, but we cleaned it well and picked up all the discarded trash. They ended up pitching tents on the property and taking the other building in the middle of the night without asking, then didn't offer to pay for it, didn't even mention it. Today I just realized they also stole my tire pressure gauge 🤦‍♂️.

Wow! What a situation! I wonder if they end up paying for 30 people and hope they won't leave too much trash.

I guess the gaming night did not happen

It almost became worst case scenario, but now so many of these experiences have caused me to know what to look for. Kids hanging out the sunroof, squatting cars, shouting, all signs these folks are not going to chill and respect nature. Today I'm putting a no entry sign on our fence and will only do online bookings from now on out. I'd rather have guests stay here that are coming to experience our property and the forest instead of people looking for a place to crash on the way back from the casino to Phnom Penh.

Sounds like a wise thing to do.

Casino people clearly aren't the type of crowd you'd like to host.

Sorry to hear that. Prayer goes with you and srey-yuu to have the house back in one piece.

The trash was the worst, a mix of poopy diapers and animal bones. Better yet was to find bits of rice all over the bed, not sure what events led to that, but I assume they were pretending to be Romans.

Oh, my! I hope they don't trash your property! 😱

I knew I wasn't going to be pleased with the results, and I wasn't. I need to learn to be rooted in my decisions when dealing with Cambodians. That is my biggest annoyance in this country, the fact that I mostly can't be my real self despite speaking the language fluently. Kindness is weakness in most parts of the world, but here more than average.

"Kindness is weakness in most parts of the world, but here more than average."

Maybe you should have kept shouting, "NO! YOU GO NOW!" over and over until they left! 😂

Perhaps I just need to reference a ghost story occasionally, maybe make up a legend like the Witch of Steung Kach or something, could scare em' away.

I hope Sry-Yuu is feeling better now.. 30 people in a small cabin is chaotic. I read your post about it. Sorry to hear about them leaving your place with such a mess.

I am thankful she helped a bit despite wanting to be a lazy teenager and just take naps 😄. The cabin is all picked up now and peace has returned to our land.
