Monetizing Your Hobbies: Exploring The Potential Of Writing And Chess

Hobbies are activities that people do and enjoy. In today's world, it is so easy to make money from your hobbies. Who says you have to wear a matching bow tie on a suit, work from morning till evening before you can make money? Nowadays, I've seen and heard stories of people who drop out of school to focus on their handwork. I know of a lot of people that cater to their families with the help of their hobbies. The thing about hobbies is that they are things we enjoy doing, and things we can do easily without stress.

However, monetizing your hobbies is not an easy thing to do. You've got to have specific hobbies before you can make a living from it. For example, you don't expect someone whose hobby is to sleep all day to make a living from it. I mean, who makes a living from sleeping? If your hobby is something that can fetch you money, all you need is consistency, hard work, dedication, and prayer.

Of course. Who doesn't? I have a lot of hobbies. My favorite hobby is playing football. I fell in love with football when I was a kid. I've been in love with football since “forever.” I'm a big fan of the sport. Playing football is what I enjoy doing any time I've got the chance. There are a lot of people that make money from playing football. Today, the famous footballers we see and hear of today are millionaires. Playing football is my talent. It was my wish to turn this sport into my profession, sadly, things didn't go my way. Now, playing football is just my hobby.

In no particular order, my other hobbies are; playing chess, writing, watching movies, and reading Greek mythology. Yes, reading Greek mythology is a hobby I recently developed.

The direct answer is: yes! It feels so good and relaxing to make money from your hobbies. A friend of mine knits for a living. She knits at her leisure time or whenever she's free. Trust me, she has made a lot from knitting. As I mentioned above, one of my hobbies is playing chess. Did you know you can make money from playing chess? There are different ways to make money from chess. The seemingly illegal way is to bet. Yes, I've once made money from chess by betting. A friend of mine introduced me to his gang who apparently were chess lovers. They were so sure they could beat him. After bragging for minutes, we made a bet and I made them ever doing it.

Another way to make money through chess is to work as a chess coach. I once worked as a chess coach for a church and a school. I made cool cash from it. There are also different websites online where you can work as a chess coach.

Moving on, Writing is another thing I enjoy and love doing. I started writing at a very young age. I wrote my first-ever story when I was in Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1). I was about 10 years old at that time. I stopped writing for a while until I got to Senior class and then I started writing for a website that paid me pretty well. I started blogging on Hive blogging about a year ago. Not only has writing on the blockchain improved my skills, but I also learn new things every day.

In conclusion, you can monetize your hobbies. You can turn what you love and enjoy doing into that thing that puts food on your table. You don't have to ask your parents for every little thing. If you're ready to learn and improve, determined, dedicated, and consistent, you'll definitely make a living through your hobbies.
