The girl, who looked like a normal young woman, watched, unconcerned. She walked towards us, and as she did, the lights above her buzzed and sputtered to life.

This line pumped up some scary thoughts while moving to next para, what possibly could happen it's about to reveal in upcoming episode.

Deluxe ran back in with my laptop, free of Lobster the ball python. I made a mental note that there was likely a loose snake in the kitchen.

There was no alley. It was a hallway, and that girl leaned against the wall across from us, arms folded. Fergus shut the door and stared at it.

Sh*ts getting interesting! I can imagine the confusion on their faces, things are starting to turn very creepy! Can't wait to see what happens next!

this is my favorite part

“Alright girl genius, you can rig up a phone to automatically run your hobbies, can you get this blasted wifi to work?” I spun my computer around at her. She cracked her knuckles and began to poke at it while I scanned the rest of the cafe, trying to see if anyone else was struggling. It was only us, two little old ladies and a dude reading a book. I scoped out the title because I like to judge people based on the covers of the books they read. It was called The Secret to Living. Self improvement, most likely. I awarded the stranger some preliminary points.
