Today has been another restful Sabbath, although these days go by too quickly. My wife inherited an antique rocking chair from her "papa" who recently died. This rocking chair has been in her family going back generations. Many babies from her family were rocked in this chair and we are about to add another.

Sitting in the rocking chair, next to the cradle, reading her phone and sipping some hot tea - makes for a restful and relaxing day. It's a day we refrain from picking up (although the house gets messy) it's a day we do no cooking projects (we eat leftovers) and it's a day we like to take a nap.

Calendars and Holy Days

For those who observe Easter, I hope you had a very good weekend and have a good Easter Sunday tomorrow.

Our family observes the 13th month this year. It separates the Passover and Easter by almost an entire month, which is strange for us. We remember the death, burial and Resurrection of our Lord at Passover time, as Yeshua said (referring to the Passover) "Do this in remembrance of Me". So we do the Passover according to his instructions and according to the 14th day of the first month (as it is written in the bible). When there is a discrepancy between the tradition of Christianity and the Lunar-Solar calendar (which sometimes requires a 13th month), it feels a bit odd.

We have no desire to profane a day that is considered Holy by the tradition of Christianity, nor do we ever disparage or discourage traditional observances - but for us, we reckon tomorrow as the 21st day of the 13th month, not the 16th day of the first month.

The Solar eclipse (April 8th) will mark the first day of the new year for us and as the full moon approaches (April 23rd), we will observe the remembrance the day before (Preparation Day). We will remove the leaven from the house and remember the events recorded in the Gospel, the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord - His (and our) great Exodus from this world.

But with the greater Christian world celebrating the Resurrection tomorrow, it's a bit odd to treat is as a normal, first day of the week.

April 24th will be the day we remember the Resurrection.
