WHAT DEFINES AN ADULT

Growing old is something most of us wished for when we were younger, for some, we thought that was the only way we could achieve what we really wanted and for some we thought that was the only way we could unlock some features. Well, becoming an adult is just like a game where we have to cross different levels to become a professional in it.

At what age can one be an ideal adult? Well as much as age is important, it is also worth to note that sometimes when we are so focused we can as well achieve the highest level even in few trials.

The life of an adult is one that experiences defines and not age per say. Wait there is more. Having just the experience is not really enough to make you an adult, yes, it is the way you let those experiences shape you that makes you an adult (mature). Please permit me to take an adult as someone who is mature.

No doubt, the older we get the more experiences we have but then not everyone that has had an experience of something really get to learn from those experiences and become better. Sometimes those who see you have those experiences even learn from it better than you even without necessarily experiencing for themselves and that makes them ahead of you in that regard.

Having experiences of thinking sometimes it’s nice but then not every thing is worth experiencing, you just have to learn from others and not from your own experiences. I remember when a question was asked to me and it says, “how many times should something happen to you before you learn”? By now I’m very sure you’ve given the right answer to it based on what I’ve been saying, hehehe.

Nothing has to happen to you once or more for you to learn from it, there are others who have had those experiences. You just have to learn from them and if it is something worth experiencing then you can go all in. Well, I remember telling someone this but then their response was quite amusing, they said they’d rather have their experiences themselves and learn from it.

Well, let me break it to you darling, you might not be fortunate enough to learn from your own experiences and that might just make you end up making more mistakes over and over. If you want to be an adult then I think that is one thing you need to come to terms with. People’s experiences are a gift to you to grow faster and wiser! Yes most times it’s as if they are scapegoats but then we can make it something worthwhile if we don’t repeat that same thing (bad).

Age matters but then it doesn’t guarantees maturity. It’s not easy to have lived for sometime so let’s acknowledge that part but then that doesn’t mean you are more matured than some people you are older than except of course you know how to learn from people’s experiences as that would make you grow faster and faster.

Like I mentioned in someone’s comment, I think fixing an ideal age to know we are adults is quite limiting because some people now categorize on that to say they are adults so they can make decisions on their own. Well I tell you this, even the old wise person has someone or telling he goes to for advice because he knows that he can’t know it all.

In my country, it is officially that a person becomes an adult at 18 years which is not bad in the aspect of holding them accountable but then in other things like decision making, I think time is the only thing that can define if truly a person is matured or not.

This is my little response to the Hivelearners topic on ”THE IDEAL ADULT AGE”.
