MY DAD'S CYCLES

Helloooo cyclists and non-cyclists 🚴🚲... In this post I'd be sharing with you some of my experiences with cycles and I'm hoping you stay tuned.

In the early 20's, my dad had a bicycle which he told me was what he inherited from his father. According to my dad, it was one of the best bicycle back then and even at that time he was telling me about it, I guess it was because the bicycle was very strong. Whenever my siblings and I were back from school, we always went to stand around the bike and play with it but could never ride on it because we were still little then. My dad had this particular pumper he used to inflate the bicycle tyres whenever it was deflated.

The pumper was the major thing I liked because I can easily try to pump the tyres myself and I didn't had to stress myself because I can just roll the tyres to where I can inflate it. It wasn't as if I did it right but it was fun anyways and once I'm tired I just take out the pump and play with it. At some point I wished my siblings and I had a bicycle to play with like other children but I never really pushed my dad for it because I know he has a lot of other important needs to meet even though I was a child.

After some years passed, my dad had to sell it off because he bought a motorcycle which he planned to use commercially. We were sad at first because we were already fond of the bicycle but then we were even more excited with the motorcycle. We always loved following dad anywhere he was going to that wasn't his work because we love cruising on his bike and he loved it too.

Having a motorcycle was quite more expensive to maintain but at least dad could use it commercially to make some money. Since Dad was a mechanical engineer, he was able to do some of the maintenance himself and that helped me know some tools and equipments used in repairing and maintaining a motorcycle.

There was also a time when we went to visit Grandma, she also had a bicycle and it was as if everyone in the village has a bicycle because that was the major source of transportation for them. Seeing that, I got so interested in learning how to ride a bike. There was this particular day I saw a little child of around 7-8 years old riding a bicycle 3 times bigger than him and he was not just riding himself but his other little siblings too. I was so shocked and that also gave me motivation to give riding a bicycle a try.

My cousin brother was good at riding bicycle so I pleaded with him to teach me and he agreed. The day we tried learning, I got myself injured and that brought fear to me and I lost my interest in learning again. But then I still find myself always wishing I know how to ride a bicycle especially when I see my grandma riding it to the farm.

My experience with learning how to ride a bicycle hasn't been successful at all but I'm still going to keep trying to learn how to ride a bicycle because it's a good way to take one's mind off some stuff because you have to stay focused. I'm definitely going to learn how to ride a bicycle, I just need the right opportunity and I'm going to grab it.

I remember my cousin brother told me that for anyone to learn how to ride a bike they will definitely get injured in the process and I already got that injury so I hope that the next opportunity I get would be the one I need to perfect my learning. But I don't know how true that is.

Well, that's all I have for you today and I'm so glad to know there is a community I can share my experiences relating to cycles (I have so many of them). This is also my first post to the community and it took me this long to make a post because I'm not a cyclist (yet) and I thought that was a disqualification until I read the community's welcome post.

I used to regularly take my mountain bike to work often, and over the 13 to 15 years I wore out three bikes. I'm retired from cycling and bike commuting after I had my second accident breaking my right shoulder for the second time. It was fun while it lasted. Saved a lot of cash in not having a car.
Thx, for the share 🚲

Oops! So sorry about your shoulders.

Yeah, it did save a lot for those years but it is definitely the right time to retire, hehe.

Thank you so much for stopping by 🥰

Everyone who tries on anything with wheels do harm themselves, before or after they know how too. You have awesome memories and glad you shared it.

I still don’t know how to ride a bicycle myself and I don’t think I will even learn anymore
I also tried learning the motor cycle and it was futile
Now I just know to focus on driving before I remove my teeth

Haha, exactly. I need to do the same too. I have to just focus on learning how to ride a car instead but I'd still try, hehe.

Thank you so much for stopping by 🥰

I also remember when I was younger, I wished I could ride a bicycle, but the fear of hurting myself prevented me from doing it. I still wish I could ride a bicycle, but only God knows when. Thanks for sharing your experience.

We are definitely the same in this regards, hehe. I won't give up on learning how to ride a bicycle but I won't make it a do or die something 😂.

Thank you so much for stopping by 🥰
