A few pints out in Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon

My wife and I went into the city centre on saturday afternoon, and on our walk back home we stopped in at a few pubs for a few cheeky pints.

First up was a mock-speakeasy called Panda & Sons. We'd never been here but had heard about it. Its pretending to be a Barbers, in the old American speakeasy style. You then get taken down stairs and through a false bookcase into the waiting pub behind !

They were selling Pilot Lager, which is brewed here at Leith in Edinburgh. It was quite nice, fairly crisp with just enough of a hint of hops. My wife was enjoying her half pint mug glass !

Its a cool pub, with pandas featuring throughout !

I really liked the beer matts, and took one home for our daughter as I thought she might like the pandas !

They also had quite a good list of spirits. I took a snap of the whiskey page for @bozz - thats a decent list, although a little pricey.

We had another round in Panda & Sons before making our way to another pub.

We passed this seagull taking pride of place on one of the old red telephone boxes !

We made our way down to Stockbridge which is a lovely hip part of town, with its own high street vibe.

We stopped in a St Bernard's Bar which is one of my fav pubs. Its jammed packed with all kinds of ornaments and bric-a-brac. They serve great beer, and have a vinyl turn table on the bar for blasting out great tunes. They were playing the Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers album when we walked in.

We had two rounds in there. I opted for a Stewart Brewing Lager (a brewery from the outskirts of Edinburgh) while my wife changed to white wine (pinot grigio) - with a nice bowl of mixed nuts to accompany the drinks !

Its a great wee pub. Thats Hugo, the bar man - he does a fantastic job of making you feel welcome and giving it a great atmosphere, and he really knows his music !

From there we made our way home passing this lovely church.

And I also took a liking to this Monkey Puzzle tree that someone had in their garden.

Well that wrapped up pour impromptu session on saturday - tried another new pub and also popped into a tried and tested pub - cant say fairer than that !
