The feeling of spring in a single photo

If only it were spring!

Completely without inspiration for a blog, I scroll around Hive, and then suddenly I come across @friendlymoose's post in which he names all the photo contests going around on Hive. A small spark of hope bubbles up and I quickly click on the post. And there it is... How could I forget it? @photofeed has daily contests with recurring topics. How could I have forgotten this? Especially in my early days, these types of photo contests were my mainstay, my go-to for daily blogging. Not only that, but it also gave me enough motivation to keep shooting. Daily blogging seems like something from a distant past, and photography is no longer in my system as it used to be. But ignore your love for photography altogether? No, I will never be able to do that.

Thursday

On Thursday it is time for Macro photography. For a moment I was unsure whether I should take a 'fresh photo'. But considering that my legs still feel like they're made of rubber, and the flu has taken hold of me, I decided I could use an old photo of myself.

It is now the middle of winter, and although it is not freezing and the temperature is very pleasant by winter standards, it is still far from spring. Fortunately, the days are becoming noticeably longer, although they are not yet long enough for my liking, but it is a start. In any case, we are heading in the right direction again. In good spirits (yes, as long as I'm in bed I don't feel that my legs are made of rubber), I scroll through my photos and suddenly I see THE photo I want to use today. A beautiful image that screams SPRING. A bee (or perhaps a bumblebee?) feasting on the nectar of blue grape hyacinths. While I look at the photo and assess it with a 'photography eye', I am captivated by 'The Spring Feeling'. And the moment I feel that feeling flowing through me, I decide that I no longer care whether this is a top or flop photo in the eyes of others. It makes me happy, and I realize that every day that passes brings me closer to spring._

The Magic of Blue Grapes

Blue grapes. They always enchant me with their graceful little bunches of blue flowers. Sometimes they look like little magical magic balls. And they carry with them the promise of spring and new life. You often see them very early with their blue heads sticking out above the ground. In the years when a lot of snow suddenly falls in February, you suddenly see the blue flowers of the Blue Grapes through the white snow. Yes, when you think of spring, you think of Blue Grapes, as the first messenger of spring. And once you have spotted the Blue Grapes, you know that it won't be long before the color range of spring starts to burst forth. The yellow Daffodils and the red Tulips next to the Blue Grapes. I can't wait for that time again, the garden in full spring bloom, the new life sprouting everywhere and the buzzing of the insects, the chattering of the birds, and above all ... a pleasant sun on my skin that makes me feel the cold of the winter leaves forgotten.

Just wait a little longer

Unfortunately, I know it will take a while before spring arrives. The cold days will continue, and the trees will retain their bare branches for a while. I expect King Winter to have another surprise in store for us.

Enjoying the Now

So instead of continuing to long for the future, I crawl back under the covers after taking some Paracetamol. And when I wake up again I try again to enjoy the now. But if I need it, I'll just look at this photo. It reminds me that beauty and joy can be found in the little things, even during the coldest days of the year. And this photo shows me that no matter what happens, spring will inevitably come. I am ready. I can't wait for nature to wake up from its hibernation. For now, I have to make do with my photo and memories of a small bee on the blue grapes, a beautiful promise of the wonderful days to come.
