I transformed leftover fabrics into a princess dress
Happy New Week dear creatives!
It's another wonderful week and I hope we all make the best of it.
Isn't it amazing how our skills turn us to be good minimalists, making the best out of everything we touch or do, I resolved last year to declutter leftover fabrics from outfits I've made over a period of time, this is something I often do to keep my sewing space breathable because the truth is as long as new projects get coming in, the more cluttered our sewing space becomes, there will always be that leftover fabric you just can't let go, and you keep on promising to make something out of it, and yet another and another before you know ot, the room is jam-packed.
So being intentional about decluttering and making beautiful outfits, also giving them out is what has made me stay committed so far, during the week while giving my sewing room a thorough clean out, I found an old sequin velvet that was a remnant of a dress I made about a year ago and I couldn't just skip the urge of making something beautiful out of it, luckily I also had other materials I needed, from the tulle, satin, matching thread available at home, all are leftovers and that was all the encouragement I needed to embark on this project, as I didn't need to go to the fabric store to buy anything.
My little daughter is always lucky to have a new dress when mama finds little materials she can combine to make a pretty little dress as she is still the little one and doesn't need too much material to get a perfect fitted dress.
So I managed the sequin velvet, cut out a basic bodice pattern of her size, with the back having a V-neckline, and went for cute cup sleeves, I also used the satin fabric as the lining/base of this outfit
For the lower part, I cut out two flares, using her waist measurement as the radius of the flares, I gathered tulle in the flare with the longest length
And pleated hard net on the flare with a shorter length, to help give it a more bouncy/fuller look from beneath, since I had less tulle material.
Continuing, I joined the upper part of this dress to the lower part, now, time to fix a zipper.
My princess dress is ready, look at how happy she is to have a new dress, made with zero cost, all leftovers from previous different projects,
I imagined if I needed to purchase this dress in the market how much I would be charged at this present difficult economy, thankfully, I have a skill that saves me money in times like this.

Thank you for reading❤❤.
I can just imagine if you purchased it from the market, definitely very expensive
This is really beautiful and now I wish I was a kid so my mom sees this for me
I love it 🥹
Yeah, very, you will make beautiful crochet dresses for your daughters instead 😅

I really love this dress, if not for your explanation i would have believed you buy it new, it really beautiful, your princess is really happy, well done good mother
Lol, thanks Pekky, its all made by me
If I had seen this on her without knowing the story, I would have thought it is an expensive dress.
It's expensive too though because gifts that comes from the heart are very valuable .
That's the magic of being your own designer, and true, gifts from thee heart are the more valuable ones.
Thanks sis.
It's always a matter of pleasure to transform leftovers into such a perfect piece 💫
