Finding the perfect birthday gift for my mum
Hello lovely hivers and creative needleworkers
I hope we all had a fun weekend, it's a new start of the week, and it has become a routine for me to start my week where feels like a home to me in this wonderful community, here is wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead.
It's going to be my mum's birthday soon, and I couldn't decide on the right gift for her, I know one of the gifts has to be my design, she loves it when I make new outfits for her, but I wanted this very one to be special, something she actually needs.
I visited her last weekend and heard her complain about how she couldn't wear one of her favorite jackets anymore because it became undersized and worn out, and the reason she loved the jacket was that it helped conceal her belly fat easily since it's flared from the waist region, she gave birth to 5 of us, she is not a shame of her body, but loves to look smart in every outfit, making sure that it suites her body type, ah! Now you can guess where I got the fashionista genes from.
I love this part about my mum, even at her age now, she still cares to look smart. Without letting her know my plan, because it was going to be a surprise, right then and there I got inspired to make her a new Jacket, just like her old one.
To make this peplum jacket
- I started by drafting the front and back pattern, with a deep V-neckline at the front, the length of this pattern stops at her waist.
- Next, I attached the flare which completes the length of the jacket
- I went with puffy three-quarter sleeves, just like her favorite jacket did
Which gave me the final look, I also added some rhinestones for more glitter, she loves them on her outfit. I'll probably update this post with a picture of her in the Jacket when she receives it, I'm sure she will this jacket when she receives it. Pardon my small-sized mannequin😂, my mom is a size 16, that's double my mannequin size.
Looking forward to her birthday now, you can help me suggest more birthday gift ideas, I could add to this Jacket, I would love to see them.
