Decluttering and giving out to my society❤

Hello, my fellow needleworkers, and all lovely hivers, a great start of the week for us all.

As a seamstress, it has become a habit of mine lately to declutter leftover fabrics, I discovered that I have held on to so many, always promising myself that I would make something of each, but with time, they've ended up piling up and taken a space in my room.

I knew the only way I could declutter and be at peace or should I say ease by remaking something out of them, The challenge I face mostly is the fabrics being too small in yardage to make a full outfit for an adult, so I ended up using most of them for baby dresses like I shared a romper I made here also the dress below was made from left over fabric, the idea was to give to my society, by giving out as much as I can reach, I know this is going to take a while to finish this mission as sewing takes time, Also I have other works to attend to, still I'm determineed to see this through.

Last week, I decided to make a dress for a little ten-year-old girl who admired my drum sleeves dressand jokingly asked me when I was going to make her a dress. Automatically, she got added to the list of people who will be receiving my decluttering gift in dorm of a dress haha, lucky her. I had leftover fabric after making that
particular dress, so I decided to make a dress for her using the same fabric, since she said she liked mine, but the problem was that it wasn't enough to make a full dress, I had to be creative to make one.

What I did? I also got another leftover lace from a dress I had also made previously, having my complete materials and tools needed,

I set out to start drafting and cutting out patterns of the dress, combining the African print with the lace fabrics

As you can see here, it came out perfect, you would think it was the original idea.I attached the lace fabric to the upper side of the dress, also at the hem for more length, the sleeves was also made combining the lace and African print. The reason I so much love fashion designing, as nothing goes to waste.

I decided to take a quick photograph as she was already at my house to receive her dress happily, I didn't think twice about my choice of background, I guess I was distracted and happy for her as well, It was after she left, going through the pictures, that I discovered how the lace fabric matches the background, I should have used a darker shade background. I tried editing a bit, I hope it's a bit clearer now.

I loved reading through, and resonated with lots!! Too many left overs, yess always! and:

The reason I so much love fashion designing, as nothing goes to waste.

Definitely! But I guess thats why I love your posts as well, is too see what you are coming up with each time and for each next "problem" or challenge:) And I think the african-print-lace combination is awesome, gives it a very unique style.

This is really lovely. It is very easy to get so many left over fabrics but the difficult part is making all the fabric fit together into one piece.
If you have sewn this dress in another form of arrangements for the fabric I won't come out this nice if you understand what I mean.

It takes a lot of creativity to do a patch work like this.
