Ladies of hive community contest #144/ solutions to racial injustice

Hello beautiful ladies!!

It's another beautiful and a lovely new week and am so so super excited to be here once again.

🔸 Racial injustice: No matter how people tackle this, inequality still happens, women of colour are vulnerable not being given equal opportunity promised.

Since I have not been racially abuse by any white, I wouldn't want to write from an unexperienced point of view. I will be narrowing it to the Nigerian context, which is known as ethnicity and tribalism.

One of the major problem of Nigeria as a nation is it's multi-lingual and diverse ethnic nationalities. The major three tribes in Nigeria are Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. Since after the Nigerian civil war ended in 1970, there have been several dichotomy between these tribes which has also affected the opportunities that is suppose to be shared amongst them.

Apart from the inter-ethnic rivalries that has affected the equal opportunities in the country, women on the other hand have been the most vulnerable due to the patrilineal (male dominated) nature of Nigeria society.

Prior to this period, only men were sent to school to be educated and the basis of the argument was that women will be married and belong to a man who is not a member of her family. This has changed overtime due to the help of globalization. But women generally are still suffering from getting some jobs like their male counterpart due to their gender.

What can be done about it?

  • more sensitisation should be done by government on the need to give women their right in the government because they are also humans and deserve equal opportunity.
  • women also need to prove to their male counterpart that they are capable to Carry out any kind of responsibility given to them in the society.

Thanks for reading and also making out time sharing your beautiful opinions on my post it's your friend @damsel001 do have a nice day and lovely week.

It's good that women can now study in your country. However, I imagine that there is a lot of inequality, I hope everything improves. many blessings

As if an entrenched cultural inequality is hard enough to overcome but also compounded by inter-tribal friction.

Tribal discrimination is something not many discuss, yet very true when living in countries where work is held within favoured communities.

Thank goodness girl child is now expected to be offered same schooling as the boy child where this never used to happen previously.

Thanks for sharing your region in depth, please remember to drop the link into comments section of contest !LOLZ

It is very sad that discrimination also exists between tribes, it is a complex problem.
