Mundane Life | Celebrating My Hubby's 47th Birthday

Happy birthday to my husband! I would like to dedicate today's post to the "bestest" husband and dad in the entire world because today is his birthday. He turns 47 today, yeah, if you are wondering how old he is. But I don't think he looks his age 😆. Many friends and colleagues thought he is still in his 30s, perhaps because of his small size.

But we Asians do tend to look a lot younger than our real age 😁. Perhaps it's genetic, or maybe just great nutrition or living in a healthy environment overall. My husband doesn't smoke or drink. He doesn't have a sedentary job, meaning he doesn't spend his time at his desk at work but moves around a lot to supervise his subordinates or troubleshoot broadcasting systems under his care. So apart from work stresses, he is in pretty good shape.

So what did we do to celebrate his birthday? Our birthday boy didn't intend to have an elaborate celebration and preferred a low-key day to be with the family. We had to honor his wishes and didn't have any special plans for him.

However, we did spend time together as a family and had a mini celebration with a slice of cake and some good food.

He spent time with the kids at the playground and took some photos with them. I wasn't in the photos because I had an earlier arrangement with a group of friends to have a short breakfast meet-up.

Most people would probably want to be treated like royalty on their birthday but not my husband. Being the capable handyman that he is, he spent an hour fixing faulty doorknobs and also a tap in one of our bathrooms. I told him he could do all that some other time and have a restful day instead, but he said he didn't want to waste his time doing fluff. So, if fixing stuff around the house makes him happy, I happily obliged.

We also went on our weekly date without the kids at one of our favorite Japanese restaurants, Zokuro.

What we had for dinner. The kids chose to stay home and had their dinner at home to give us some personal space. I really appreciate their kind gestures.

Hubby and I had a wonderful time during dinner and enjoyed each other company. He even spent some time replying to birthday messages from friends and family members.

So that was how we celebrate my hubby's birthday today. No birthday bash or anything grand. He just wanted to have a simple celebration within the family without the unnecessary stress that often comes with big celebrations.
