Estrella Galicia Special Edition for the night of the San Juan Bonfire
Hi,
In Spain and specifically in the community of Galicia, in the northwest of Spain, there is a beautiful tradition on the night of the 23rd to the 24th of June, coinciding with the day of San Juan, in which bonfires are made from 00:00h onwards to celebrate the arrival of the summer solstice.
The origin of this tradition of making bonfires on this date comes from the belief that these bonfires were a way of giving more strength to the sun, as from the solstice onwards, the hours of sunshine are less and less in the northern hemisphere.
Estrella Galicia San Juan Bonfire Special Edition
On the occasion of this festive day, on the beaches of Galicia, where there are many bonfires, the best selling beer in the north of Spain, whose brewery is located in Galicia, has launched a special edition of its star brand with different labelling to the traditional one.
The main label on the bottle shows a woman holding a beer in one hand with blue flames emulating the cold or coolness of the beer and in the other hand a fist with fire around it, symbolising the fire of the bonfire.
What better than a cold beer to contemplate bonfires with the warmth they give off?
On the top labelling, unlike the classic labelling of this beer, you can read the phrase "Rise and Jump".
Why this phrase?
Well, the explanation is that on the night of San Juan, when the bonfire is in its last flames, it is traditional to try to jump over the bonfire in the pagan belief of purifying oneself and attracting good luck.
A refreshing place to drink this beer
Well, this special San Juan de estrella Galicia bonfire beer was drunk by a friend and I last week on Friday 23rd June on a beach in O Grove, although we had a glass of Super Bock.
More beer on the night of San Juan
In the evening we went to another village near O Grove called Virgen de las mareas, where there was a festival with live music and traditional Midsummer food such as sardines, ribs and grilled sausages.
And we continued our love affair with Estrella Galicia beer until the lighting of the bonfires and the fireworks.
All in all, a great day surrounded by friends and the Estrella Galicia San Juan night edition.
Best regards.

It'd be cool if this was some sort of Rauchbier - might not fit the setting of beaches in spain quite so much, but the smoke of a bonfire - yes.

A lot of learning from the beer than book . :). This type of beer bottle should be produce everywhere.
It would be nice to have a little bit of history and traditions in the labelling.
